Ardmillan Hotel

I tend not to compose damming reviews as this impacts on jobs and buisness .Nonetheless i would avoid this place unless your young single and can cope with rough and ready and dont expect luxury .i could comment on lots of features such as frendlyness of some of the staff to its closeness to the City Centre . However it was its lack of fire safety features that scared us . The ergress in care of a fire and emergency lighting hanging off the walls worried us to such an extent that we left on our last night and stayed in another hotel nearby .Noone was around so we left our room key in the room. No doubt the owers will sttempt to descredit our claims .We have however provided photos to judge for yourself and complained formally to booking .com.

We have stayed a couple of times at the Ardmillan, this time we stayed to see Taylor Swift, the hotel location is perfect for gigs and rugby at Murrayfield and a great location for the bars and restaurants in Dalry and the city itself. Amanda and the staff at the Ardmillan are so friendly, warm and down to earth, nothing is a bother and we felt really welcomed. Our bedroom was downstairs this time and the rooms were stunning, we had a great sleep and enjoyed the short bread post concert the room was fresh and bright and looked lovely with thistle wall paper and tartan curtains - a lovely touch. We had a much welcomed shower in the wet room and enjoyed a breakfast of hot croissants and toast. Already planning my next stay, thoroughly recommend.

Once again stayed at the Ardmillan with my son's this time for the Scotland v England game like a home from home really friendly staff welcomed us back rooms clean and recently refurbished the locals welcoming and friendly even supplying me with a few beers after the kids had gone out on the town (never did get one from the hotel owner though) 15 minutes walk to Murryfield Already planning 2026 and wouldn't stay anywhere else

Small comfy single room with shared bathroom. Room had TV, hot drinks free biscuit and mints. Low headroom over Toilet in shared bathroom. Staff friendly and helpful. Mini safe in room. Had to adjust room temperature as too hot. Get key to front door, so can come back late at night without any problems. Clean Towls and Soap in room. Nice pub downstairs. Hot and Continental breakfast available, competitive price to others. 20 to 25 min walk to city or 10 min to haymaker and catch tram.

The hotel advertises parking as an amenity, but parking is NOT in fact guaranteed. There is a tiny lane beside the hotel with space for maybe 5 cars. When we arrived the spots were all taken. Street parking is paid and max 4 hours from 8 am - 5 pm, so our car was something we were constantly worrying about. It was also unfortunate to have found the previous guest's socks left behind in our armoire. And the bottles of body wash and shampoo they used were still in the washroom too. Made me question how thoroughly the room was cleaned before we got there. That being said, the room was a good size and the location was pretty good too-- about 25-30 min walk to Edinburgh castle, for reference.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were fine, though the restaurant wasn't open for an evening meal. The bar was lively and friendly. The main downside being a bit of a struggle to get a parking space, which was advertised. Would happily go back again.
