Location: We were very pleased with the hotel's proximity to University of Iowa. It was quick & easy to get there & back, without staying on campus. There were a a couple of very good restaurants nearby that we ate at over the course of our stay. If we were staying longer, we could have gotten groceries nearby for eating in. The hotel is also right by the freeway on/off ramp making it convenient to access the freeway. Hotel / Hotel amenities: The hotel was clean; staff was friendly & helpful. We only had a short time to grab breakfast in the morning. There were a lot of options, but we only grabbed one thing each & were pleased with what we had. Room: The room was huge! The layout wasn't particularly useful for 2 people (it felt like a lot of empty space), but it would be great if you had a playpen, stroller, kids running around, lots of luggage, etc. Beds were comfortable (although sheets were the grabby type). Everything was CLEAN and I'm picky. Cons: Not about the hotel but IHG in general; they really need an app that alerts you when your room is ready and lets you bypass the front desk with a digital key. I called about an hour early to find out if our room was ready & I think the poor front desk person had to physically check the status of the room. Also, their website needs better descriptions of the rooms. I had also called a couple days ahead to find out if the rooms had shampoo, soap, etc. because the website doesn't give any indication (the rooms do have soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, a hair dryer) & the front desk person said he had to go check; I told him not to bother. One other thing: there is very limited parking for check in, which made parking the car for check in a challenge.
