I always write honest reviews with positives and negatives, and try to be as fair as I can. The positives … The rooms at this establishment are exceptional. If you’ve ever stayed at a Crazy Bear, then this is on par. We had the room above the restaurant, and whilst other reviews have said it was noisy it really wasn’t that bad, and was beautifully decorated. The freestanding bath in the bedroom was a gorgeous plus it was clear that there was a lot of attention to detail, above and beyond what you would expect for a standard B&B. The location is central in Chipping Campden which is ideal and parking is easy. The negatives … Whilst some people have said that there is no front of house and you have to find your own way into your room, this for me was not the major drawback to this B&B. The breakfast part of this B&B was astoundingly appalling. I have never experienced a “ breakfast situation” like it before. We were told to pick a time to eat breakfast, given the choice of 8 am or 8:45 am. We chose 8:45 am. We were supposed to choose the food that we would like to eat for breakfast the night before, but the instructions were unclear. Two of our party chose breakfast and the other two did not because they weren’t sure what to do with the clipboard left for them. When two people in our party of four turned up the next day to breakfast, in a nutshell, one got their breakfast and the other had theirs retrieved out of the bin (the hosts words, not ours!). Can you believe the host actually said “Well, we’ve thrown your breakfast away, we will have to retrieve it out of the bin.” ? Neither could we. We were reprimanded for not showing up on time, and for four of us, not turning up. We could not believe it until the Sunday morning when the same thing happened again. We were five minutes late for breakfast and arrived to find the food on the table and cold. One of our party did not make breakfast all weekend, and when she left on Sunday morning, was greeted with “Oh we’ve not seen you before!” We have paid for bed and breakfast, and if we choose not to have breakfast, that is our prerogative. Just because we don’t adhere to your strict timescales of sitting down at exactly the time you have requested does not mean you can reprimand us in this way. For £500 for two nights, per couple, it ended up being a very expensive experience that left a bitter taste in our mouths. Not one to be repeated. My suggestions for this enterprise are that they either get rid of their breakfast or they get rid of their staff who serve breakfast. There are far better places to go for breakfast in Chipping Camden.
