Just 15 minutes from the Village of Cloudcroft and nestled amongst the pines, Fawn Passage is the perfect little getaway for one or two. This cabin is not appropriate for small children and you must have pre-approval before bringing a child. For our protection and yours, we have a camera on the front exterior of the cabin, aimed at the driveway.Fawn Passage welcomes you home to peaceful beauty. Just bring your clothes, we'll provide the rest. You can't help but leave here feeling rested and de-stressed! While we depend on God to provide the wildlife and beautiful weather, we provide relaxation, comfortable furnishings TV with DVD player, lots of books, and WiFi. We do not provide cable or streaming service, and there is no television reception. We do, however, provide over 70 movies for your enjoyment. Feel free to bring a Roku or Firestick to stream movies, if you wish. The stereo is bluetooth enabled so you can connect from your phone and listen to Pandora, Spotify, etc. through the speakers.We do not allow smoking anywhere on the property - inside or out, and we do not allow pets. Fire restrictions are usually high, but you may use the propane grill on the deck.If you're ready to feel pampered, come upstairs where we have a queen size bed with an excellent mattress, 2" memory foam mattress topper, 400-500 thread count 100% cotton sheets, a down comforter and fluffy pillows. One short nap on this bed will make you want to go to bed early and sleep in late. All bed linens are provided and all are line-dried in fresh air and sunshine, and then pressed. Fawn Passage features a well-stocked kitchen, that's ready to cook in or just to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea. It includes a full size stove and refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, toaster, and coffee pot, and is fully stocked with new dishes, cookware and crock pots, as well as a gas grill on the deck. We provide you with filtered water, fresh ground Organic Ruta Maya coffee, fresh ground decaf, hot cocoa, hot apple cider, specialty teas, Krusteaz pancake mix, Log Cabin syrup, and a variety of instant oatmeal. We make it easy for you to prepare delicious meals with a well stocked spice cabinet. The kitchen is surrounded by windows, so it's light and airy and offers an excellent view of the wildlife. We provide so many extras at no extra charge, that it's like coming to your own home away from home. If you need it, we probably provide it. In the bathroom (downstairs), we pamper you with with quality handmade soap and lotion from Thymeless Bath, as well as shampoo, conditioner, a blow dryer and flat iron.You can relax and unwind inside or out. Our living area includes large comfortable furniture to curl up in and watch a movie, read, snuggle or just take a nap. The woodburner is ready to use, with all the wood provided for you at no extra charge. When it's cold outside, there's nothing more relaxing than curling up on the couch and watching the flames flicker. In the cold months, there are two heaters in the living room, in case you don't want to make a fire.The covered deck provides the perfect spot to cook steaks on the grill or just sit and watch the hummingbirds. If you pay attention, you might see deer, turkey, rabbits, blue jays, porcupines, elk or a bear. At Fawn Passage, the summer daytime highs can be anywhere from 50 to 80 degrees with the overnight lows around 45 to 60, so bring a sweater or light jacket. Winter daytime highs can range from 20 to 50, with overnight lows very cold, so you'll definitely need a warm jacket! In winter months (Dec-Jan), we recommend 4WD or chains. You can usually get up our driveway without them, but 4WD makes it much easier, if there is snow. I always have people ask if they "need" 4WD or can they get here without it. 90% of the time you can, but there's always that 10% chance. You'll have to decide if it's necessary. Fawn Passage is not a hunter's lodge and while we do host the occasional hunter, you will be required to take extra care that most hunters are not willing to do. We have white towels and bedding, as well as light colored carpeting. By "bed & breakfast without the host" we mean we provide the food to make breakfast - Krusteaz pancake mix, Log Cabin syrup, Quaker instant oatmeal, fresh ground Aspen Select Gourmet Texas Pecan coffee, specialty teas and hot cocoa. We also pamper our guests with 100% cotton line-dried sheets that are ironed smooth and oh, so inviting. You won't find that at just any cabin! Wildlife, comfortable furnishings, WiFi, TV with DVD player, lots of family and kid movies, stereo with a wide variety of CDs, lots of books and games, and many extras to make your stay special. Cedar Lodge does not provide cable or dish service, and there is no TV reception on the mountain. Some repeat guests bring a Roku or Firestick with them, allowing them to stream movies. Cedar Lodge does not have A/C, like 98% of the cabins on the mountain, as it is so rarely needed. We provide fans in the summer and when you leave the windows open overnight, it cools the cabin off and can be down right chilly by morning. We cater to families, yet pamper like a bed & breakfast! It is recommended that you have chains or 4WD during the winter months. They're not always needed, but it's better to be prepared. I've had people write and ask if 4WD or chains are needed to access the cabin. 98% of the time, no, but if we get a big storm on the day you're scheduled to arrive, you may wish you had one or the other. If you're into geocaching, there are LOTS of great sites nearby!For our protection and yours, there is a security camera on the side exterior aimed at the driveway and another on the back side of the cabin.Cedar Lodge sleeps 8 with three bedrooms and one bath - two bedrooms upstairs and one down. Each bedroom has a queen-size bed, with an electric blanket (fall/winter, only) and quilt or comforter, to keep the chill away. One bedroom has both a queen and twin bed. The twin bed doesn't have an electric mattress in the winter, but we put on warm flannel sheets and plenty of blankets and quilts. A second twin bed is located in the alcove between the two bedrooms. We do not allow smoking on the property - inside or out, and we do not allow pets. Fire restrictions are usually high, but you may always use the propane grill on the deck.Cedar Lodge boasts a roomy kitchen and a handmade 8' table and benches, allowing everyone to eat together. It's also a great place to play board games! The kitchen comes with a full size stove and refrigerator, microwave, toaster/convection oven, toaster, and drip coffee maker, and is fully stocked with dishes, cookware and crock pots, as well as a Weber gas grill on the deck. We also have a reverse osmosis water faucet at the sink. And just in case you get the urge to cook or bake, we have a well-stocked spice cupboard, as well as flour and sugar. For those families with babies, we provide a wooden portable crib with bumper, mattress pads, and sheets (multiples of both, in case of accidents), high chair, booster seat, Bumbo seat, and baby jumper. Cleanliness is very important to us, so we try our best to make sure everything is as clean as possible, especially all baby items. In the bathroom, we treat you to quality handmade soap and lotion from Thymeless Bath, which will leave you feeling and smelling wonderful. Our bathroom comes stocked with a blow dryer, curling iron and a flat iron, as well as extra toilet paper. Cedar Lodge invites you to relax and leave the hectic city life behind. Our living area includes a large comfortable couch and chairs to curl up in and watch the fire. An antique writing desk is a good spot to catch up on correspondence or you can just relax in the rocking chair with a good book. Heat is available from the wood stove or furnace. An ample deck provides the perfect spot to watch the hummingbirds up close. There is a wide variety of wildlife around Cedar Lodge, and we frequently spot deer (and occasionally, elk) around the cabin. Over the past 18 years we've seen white tail deer, mule deer, elk, porcupines, bears, raccoons, squirrels, and a variety of birds including lots of hummingbirds in the summer.At Cedar Lodge, the summer daytime highs can be anywhere from 50 to 80 degrees with the overnight lows around 45 to 60, so bring a sweater or light jacket. June is the warmest month of the year and can sometimes reach 85, but it cools off beautifully at night. The rains usually start by the first of July and when it rains it can go from 75 to 55 in the middle of a summer day. It's the best feeling ever, especially coming from the desert!Winter daytime highs can range from 20 to 50, with overnight lows very cold, so you'll definitely need a warm jacket! Electricity goes out quite a bit in the mountains, so the stove and microwave clocks are always needing to be reset. The good thing is it's usually back on within 30 minutes! Once in a while we get a big snow or wind storm that takes down some trees and power lines somewhere, and the power could be out for several hours. Don't worry, we provide plenty of wood to keep the fire going, and lots of extra quilts and comforters to layer on and keep everyone warm 'til the power comes back on. We've heard from guests who have experienced that and the kids loved the adventure of it all. The High End Luxury Cabin is up to 8 guests only. What guests love about our "High End Luxury Cabin" is that it gives our smaller families an experience in staying at a beautiful and comfortable home setting. Our beautiful, 2-bedroom cabin is spacious and well appointed. Includes: pool table (bring your own pool sticks), a Foosball table, 4 electric recliners, 2 leather recliners, a large screen TV with surround sound and high speed WIFI. Enjoy the oak dining table for 6 guests, plus, additional tables for 6. There is a new stainless-steel kitchen Hi- Tech style. It is considered a compact kitchen with a deep single sink, refrigerator, electric range, microwave, coffee maker, cookware and so much more. Please note: The kitchen is for 1 or 2 chefs at a time. It is considered "compact". All dishes will be washed by hand, no dishwasher, no garbage disposal, no washer/dryer is available. Host suggests that you bring paper goods, such as plates, cups, so that you will have an easier clean-up. Otherwise, there are plenty of dishes. For your outdoor experience we just built a large deck for picnicking and propane barbecue. Free off-street parking at the lower entrance for 3 vehicles . Host can make additional parking available for ATV's and trailers. Please message the host if you need this additional parking.This cabin backs up to the Lincoln National Forest. Simply walk around to the side of the house, and step into the cool pines. We have wildlife right up to the back yard. Likely, you will see elk, deer, wild horses, small critters and bats. Please keep the doors and windows closed . IMPORTANT: You are renting the lower floor of a 2-story home. The upper floor of the home is not included when renting the "High End Luxury Cabin". You may rent the entire home under the name of the "Woodlands Chalet", for up to 17 guests. For your privacy and security, the staircase is locked from the upper floor. We do have exterior cameras, motion activated. The entire home upper and lower levels have exterior cameras for the safety of our clients. (motion, video, recording) We do not rent the upper floor when we have guests in the lower cabin. Please remember, there are NO PETS allowed on the property or in the cabin or kept in your vehicle. No smoking or drugs in the cabin. Smoking cigars or cigarettes on the front lower deck is acceptable. Please use the small hanging sand bucket for disposal of your butts. NO HEAT or central AC, but the cabin warms up nicely with with fireplace and blower, as well as provided space heaters. The kitchen is equipped with plenty of cooking supplies and dishes, a gas stove and oven, a full size fridge and freezer, and a large table to enjoy your meals.Each bedroom has new Queen mattresses and a dresser to put your clothes away. The master bedroom has a large closet and a full size washer and dryer for laundry and the second bedroom has a Roku Smart TV.
