Solneset Farm Hotel

Fantastic working farm and a lovely couple that own it. Would 100% recommend this even for a one or two night stay I cannot wait until I am in this area again so I can stay here. The views here are amazing, the rooms are cosy and the beds are the most comfortable beds I've slept in after 20+ years of travel. It also contains a sauna which is amazing for the price you can stay here for.

After walking around Oslo and a long train ride to Bergen this was the perfect place to explore the area, both Bergen and the countryside. The owner is super helpful and will give lots of good ideas for day trips. Even though I was a solo traveler this place is ideal for groups, with a shared common room and kitchen area.

There is no public kitchen in the entire building, not even a microwave. Five room renters have to share one bathroom. There is no view and no private beach, despite being advertised. When I questioned why these amenities were advertised falsely, the owner became extremely agitated. He immediately asked us to leave and threw our suitcases from our second-floor room to the downstairs. When he saw me trying to call the police, he physically assaulted me, even though I am a 66-year-old woman. Additionally, when he noticed my husband attempting to use his cellphone, he assaulted my husband severely and confiscated his phone. My husband is 74 years old. Following this, he pushed my husband down a steep flight of stairs and forced him into an unknown location. I sought refuge in the next room and locked the door, feeling very unsafe. Fortunately, a kind Norwegian girl from the adjacent room helped me call the police. The police arrived promptly, documented the situation, and took photographs. They informed us that they would soon press charges against the owner for his violent actions. We decided to leave the property around 8:00 PM in search of another place to stay for the night. The owner insisted that we would not receive any refund if we left. This is not a fictional account; it is entirely true. These distressing events occurred on September 6th, 2023.

Some friend (USA) and I (Brit) stayed here for a few nights and were pleasantly surprised. Great facilities and extremely helpful and knowledgeable host.(info on local hikes and the city of Bergen) Nice little bar and some great plates from the restaurant too. Showers were always hot and never had to wait too long. Small charge for shuttle bus to and from Bergen. Highly recommend. Wish we could have stayed longer

I'm giving only 5 stars, because it's the maximum, but it is above. It's so far, one of the best stays I ever had. The comfortability, location, help provided, hosting, facilities,... Couples, families, solo,..it's simply a spectacular place to stay. My wife and I had terrific experience here. Full of calm, local shops around, nice trekking sites very close. If you are thinking to stay here, do not waste time thinking more. Just do it! Thanks Frode for everything. Pilar&Jorge

What a fabulous campervan stay we had over the Christmas period. The team at Solneset were incredibly welcoming and nothing was to much trouble, (even driving our campervan out when it was stuck in the snow) Showers are hotel style and we had use of a lovely fully equipped kitchen and lounge room and sauna. The animals on the farm are so well cared for even the ducks have a heated bath. Amazing views and lovely walks as well as being a short train ride to Bergen. Can't wait to see it in the summer.
