Lion Bansko Hotel

We stayed here for our week long ski holiday in Bansko. The location of the hotel is good, only a short walk from the main area of bars, restaurants and shops. They provided ski shuttle service to take you to the bottom of the gondola and back every day, although most days we just walked as it wasn’t far. The room itself was comfortable and clean, and a very good size. Found the bed to be nice and comfortable and slept well most night. My only complaint about the room itself is that I found I very warm in there, although opening the window did solve that problem. The bathroom was fairly standard with a useful heated rail for drying ski clothes etc. The WiFi in the room was poor, we did have to resort to using our mobile data the majority of the time. It was fine in the reception area though. The food was fine, nothing outstanding but ok, there was usually something there for us. I did find the choice to be a little limited for the evening meal. One thing I found to be a little frustrating was they would have a food option, once that had gone it would be replaced by something slightly different. So if you saw something you fancied on the way into the restaurant, it might not necessarily still be available when you go up there. I would suggest eating out at least a few times if you are staying for a week as it is fairly cheap to do so and makes a change from the hotels food choice. We didn’t interact with staff much other than checking in and out but seemed friendly and helpful. One thing to note is that there is no boot room/ski storage at this hotel. It wasn’t a problem for us as our rental shop would store them overnight (shoutout to Tsakiris, definitely use for rental equipment) but bear this in mind if you are taking your own skis etc. Overall a pleasant stay and good value for money, I would recommend if you are heading to Bansko.

Great hotel not one rude staff. Infact they couldn’t help enough. Even the spa staff all very friendly . Cleaners always saying hello and polite did a great job on the rooms even after staying in the room and no clean needed she still double checked on us. My review on the hotel was overall pleased would stay here again. The food and drink was lovely from the bar area my children are fussy. Breakfast was great kids loved getting up and haveing the breakfast tea not so much but there was always something they could pick at. The pool table needs a good refurb ques Damaged wrong balls but this was something i feel could be fixed my kids love pool at night but for 5lev a game adds up with incorrect equipment that was my only fault. Room was huge 424 balcony was great kitchen area and a huge bed and 2 pull out chair beds. Never cold super warm. Mini bar was good came in handy overall great hotel and staff and would definitely rerun.

Staff behaviour is horible. 21 kan 2025 receptionist was sulking and speaking like shouting, Barmen was quiet Rude. They made a small area for quests, Tables for just ıf you drink something. Barmen told 2 2 2 women and 2 children to leave ıf they drink. Bad staff behaviour makes the hotel look horible. Rooms arent enıugh hot, no kettle, not enough shampoo, don't change the towels every day. Hair dryer performance is bad.

I recently attempted to make a reservation and was met with an unprofessional experience. The staff member who answered the reservations phone was quite rude and unfriendly. I expected a warm and welcoming interaction, but unfortunately, that was not the case.

Lovely hotel and friendly staff. Good location, away from the hustle and bustle but only 8 minute walk to the Gondola, and easy to get into town at night. Provides a ski shuttle to the gondola in the morning which saved walking in ski boots. The food was lovely and drinks included at meal times were a bonus. The only point is that it is a bit dated to be seen as a true 4* and the spa could do with a little refurb.

The hotel is situated in a very good location as it is away from the hustle and bustle of the main town but close enough to walk into. The hotel has a spacious entrance with 2 real fires one of which was always lit in the evenings giving the lobby a cosy feel. All the public areas were very clean. There was a good choice of food at breakfast however, instead of fresh juice fruit squashes were available. In the evening there was a good selection of salads and hot meals. The bedroom was spacious but a little bit tired looking. The lighting was dim so it was difficult to read at night and internet was sporadic at times. The hairdryer in the bathroom was barely adequate. There is a very basic gym and there are 2 saunas and a steam room. Care is required when using the steam room and saunas as it is very slippery as the water is not mopped up regularly.
