Ananda Ubud Resort

Ananda was the perfect base for me in Ubud. Set in rice fields, large grounds with beautiful nature, 3 pools. Close to some great restaurants and massage places. Walk through rice fields to get to Intuitive Flow Yoga and Yellow Flower cafe. Great helpful staff - especially Sudiasa who tended my room and washing with great care. I stayed solo and kept extending my stay it was so convenient.

The resort is beautiful. The rooms have so much character. Bathrooms are either inside or outside in Bali fashion. Don't be surprised if you have visits from nature in your outside bathroom and, honestly, in your rooms. Geckos are a mainstay and chirp at you in the morning. Mice were not uncommon. Some rooms can have an ant issue in the bathrooms. The resort provides ant spray in every room. The AC works well in most rooms; however, power outages were a daily occurrence. The staff was wonderful and did their best to help with the inconvenience. Loved the food. Wifi is not the best. Pools were lovely.

Rooms are very nice Balinese style with terrace so that you can enjoy the apéro and rest with a wonderful view. Staff are very helpful Restaurant is great for breakfast but also for dinner . 3 pools available with wonderful views on rice fields. We will come back definitely.

I wouldn't recommend this place if you're not a fan of ants. I booked a stay here and upon walking in and using the restroom a swarm of large black and red ands were crawling all around the bottom of the toilet, on the actual toilet, inside of the toilet and and on the toilet seat. I immediately called reception and they sprayed the same bug spray that was already inside of the room. When I got back to my room later that night, the ants were coming out of the sink, under the bathtub, across my things on the curtains, across the mirror, and on the bed. I had to spray every 5 seconds. The staff kept saying, it was because they were coming from the rice paddies. I do understand we are in the middle of the rice paddies, and bugs are expected but not infestations. I had just left a hotel that was in the middle of the rice paddies and had not dealt with this problem. The hotel tried to show me another rooms, but I noticed ants in them also. One or two every now and then would've been fine, but it was groups of them. I immediately booked somewhere else after my first night. Also - minor things, but some of the lights didn't work so it was super dark in there, it wasn't very clean, and if you need wifi, it's really weak Unfortunately they did make me pay for the one night, even though I could not sleep because of the ants in my bed and them crawling everywhere else. I think this is just an issue that was out of the staff's control.

The garden setting of this resort can’t been beat. It’s like staying in a botanical garden - but also rice terraces. Five stars for the beautiful grounds. However, the rooms have issues. The WiFi in the room is unusable. You have to go to the lobby to view anything online. My room was super dark. I gave up trying to put on makeup. I couldn’t see! The darkness made it so that I didn’t want to hang out in my room- even when it was raining. The air conditioner didn’t function correctly. It only cooled to about 24 degrees. I could hear people above my room. I was awoken at 0454 with men talking loudly. The restaurant and breakfast was good (not great). The yoga studio is in the back forest- quite a walk. Staff was friendly to me and thankfully didn’t harass me about booking excursions (as other reviewers noted). I stayed as a part of a group and we all had issues with the WiFi
