Gana Hotel & Restaurant

The hotel was undergoing construction. Pool area was not at all clean! No access to Proper dining area for breakfast and choice of breakfast was very limited compared to other places of same category. Continuous sound of brick and mortar was heard throughout the day.

This hotel has a modern Bali tropical architecture. The environment is calming, surrounded by lush greenery. The spacious parking lot is very appreciated, considering that it is hard to park a car in Ubud. The location is awesome, right in the center of tourist attractions. Monkey forest, Ubud Palace, Ubud Art Market, Cafes and Restaurans are on a reasonable walking distance. We need to walk along stepping stones from lobby to room without enclosure, so it may be a problem while raining, and if you bring a lot of luggages or elderly. It is only 2 storeys building, so it has no elevator. If you are planning to bring a lot of luggages or elderly, make sure to request the first floor. The first floor rooms has no enclosed corridor. So if you open your room door, it is technicaly directly to an open air, and the room is still using traditional key (not access cards). So if you have an issue with insecurities, you may consider to choose another hotel. The room itself is clean spacious. Bed is clean and comfortable. AC, refrigerator and hot water worked very well. The shower room is spacious. But the body soap doesn't smell good. The downside of the room that the furnitures are made from laminates, which if they use natural wood, it will match to the architecture. Breakfast isn't buffet style, so we have to choose asian (fried rice or noodle) or western (egg, sausage etc). But whatever you choose, they will provide you sliced fruits, fruit juices, and coffee. They need 30 minutes to cook fried rice, and somehow run out of eggs. Fried rice didn't taste good. But the fruits were sweet and tasty.

Good: - The Hotel is really well located, in a main street next to many restaurants and it has a large parking space. - The swimming pool is really nice. - Good Restaurant, although the breakfast is always the same and small portion, but good food and well cooked. - Bed is comfortable - Staff speaks good english if you need help. Bad: - The bed doesn't have a net, so mosquitoes will eat you alive - The shower doesn't have a door, so the floor will always be wet (attracts mosquitoes and smell of dump) - There are parties nearby that sound very loud in the room - Doesn't have a SAFE, so if don't leave any cash in the room as it might get taken and they don't held themselves accountable for it.

Had a lovely 3 day stay in late May 2023. Staff were great and served a good breakfast. Its well located and very near to bars and a great new Italian Restaurant that serves thin crust Rome style Pizzas. Will be back as its great value. Nice small garden and pool.

The hotel is strategically located around the main area of Ubud. It is a part of Udaya Resort and Spa, one of the best in Ubud. The staffs are more than helpful here. I asked for their recommendations of excursions and they gave me several options immediately with great prices compared if we look elsewhere. Stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed everyday. Nice restaurants and pool. Room is spacious and clean. Personally love the outdoor area (pool and garden). Not too noisy at night either.
