Hillsdale B&B in Ambleside

Just back from a lovely weekend at Hillsdale. Location is perfect and right in the centre of Ambleside, rooms are really well appointed and spotlessly clean. Fabulous breakfast with great veggie options and really set you up for the day. Caz and Steve are very personable and welcoming with loads of good local knowledge and nothing too much trouble. Off site parking just down the road and was a real bonus if you know how busy Ambleside can get - literally lock up and leave. We’ve stayed in a number of guest houses in Ambleside/Windermere and Bowness and this one is highly recommended. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic location. Can’t fault this guest house spotless great breakfast order your preference the night so much better than a buffet. Caz and Steve are such brilliant hosts nothing is to much trouble. Will be booking again and will recommend

Recently returned from another stay at Hillsdale, wouldn't stay anywhere else whilst visiting Ambleside, Steve and Caz are superb hosts, they welcome you into their home like you are family and go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. From the beautiful rooms with everything you could possibly want i.e. wine glasses, corkscrew, little hot water bottles etc. although we have never needed to to use the hot water bottle as the rooms are always very cosy, we did however make use of the wine glasses ;-) The breakfast is superb, good quality ingredients and plenty of it to set you up for the day. Already booked for the same time in 2025 and we really look forward to our visit, not only because of the great service and perfect guest house but also to see Steve and Caz again! See you next year!

What can I say about Hillsdale other than fabulous , Steve and Caz go above and beyond to ensure you have everything you need and more . Super comfy bed , spotlessly clean , each room tastefully decorated. Highly recommend , great base for discovering all that the beautiful lakes have to offer, wonderful breakfast to set you up for a day of exploring. Can’t wait to visit again . We had a truly fantastic stay at Hillsdale. The hospitality was warm and welcoming. The hosts went above and beyond to make us feel at home, gave great advice for local walks, food and drink and ensured we had everything we needed. The breakfasts were delicious, varied, and beautifully prepared each morning, with plenty of options to suit every taste.
