Xandari Riverscapes

It was absolutely a wonderful experience. The crew members, Sony, Sujith and Kannan treated us like loved family members. Kannan, who cooked for us created 3 magnificent meals. I recommend this adventure for all looking for something unique, especially if you like being in the water.

We spent the most amazing day and night on ‘Chaliyar’, enjoying the activity and scenery ***** the Pamba river, whilst ensconced in total luxury. Our crew of three (for just the two of us) were so attentive whilst discreet, always smiling as they pampered us with delicious snacks (coconut milk from the actual coconut and steamed banana pieces) and fabulous meals (lunch of fish cooked in banana leaf and dinner of chicken with okra and veg). The boat was beautiful and so so clean. The bed was so comfortable and the bathroom with shower totally adequate. We had a fabulous lounge area for viewing ***** the way. At one point we transferred to a small motor boat (with the guests from two other Xandari houseboats) for a 45 minute tour of the narrow canals and backwaters. The driver was great fun and we all got a go at controlling the boat and wave at his family as we passed by his home. We moored for the night with the other two boats (together but far enough apart to maintain our privacy) at a Xandari property with a pool that we could use and the opportunity to take a walk if we wished. In the morning we witnessed a beautiful sunrise before our delicious breakfast of fruit and dosas. This houseboat experience was the best part of a totally fantastic and unforgettable two weeks in Kerala. We would like to thank Sony (our captain), Manoj (our engineer) and Sujith (our chef) for a most memorable trip. We felt safe in your hands at all times. We will never forget you or this trip. Just sorry we forgot to get a photo with you.

We spent a day on one of the boats, our crew of Driver - Sasi, First Mate - Sandeep and Chef Baju made our time cruising the backwaters extra special. We were able to relax and take in the sights from our vantage point on the first floor overlooking the scenery as it unfolded before us. We ate lunch, evening meal and breakfast all of which were exceptional especially the fresh dosa and masalla omelette which was delicious. Our sleep was one of the best we'd had on the whole trip the bed soft and the air con which was quiet kept the room at a perfect temperature for us. We’ve had an incredible time in Kerela weve been met with kindness and generosity at all points however this has been a highlight for us and the memories of our time will stay with us forever. Excellent trip, very friendly staff, Arun, Manu, Sujith great cook, we stopped to pick up Prawns, he cooked two different dish of prawns.. very hard working crew...... Canoe ride was also enjoyable.... Overall excellent..............

I like houseboat rides enjoying nature and also watching people’s living activities ***** the waters. From that angle, the Xandari riverscape served its purpose. The upper view deck was great. The foursome crew - Rajeev, Jinu, Sandeep and Biju - were awesome. They were courteous, friendly and did their best to provide us everything needed. The organizer, Honey, reached out a day in advance and took our requests for food. Having said the above, I want to point out several negatives. The checkin place in the ground was congested, narrow and crowded. The look and feel of the houseboat is not as shiny and clean as shown in the youtube videos. The room and bathroom, however were good as described. Overall, the food was very ordinary and amateurish. Xandari could do much better by having a real chef in the boat to prepare food items in a much better way. I want to compare this package with a similar houseboat experience in Halong bay (North Vietnam) amidst limestone rocks in the sea. It was priced similar to the Aleppey Xandari houseboat package, but a solidly better experience!
