Before hiring a car, I considered upgrading to a luxury vehicle, but I realized it wasn't necessary because most of the distances were short. Also, most locals hire cars for sightseeing. If you haven't booked a car in advance, you can probably just call any car and ask the driver if they offer a full-day car service. I took an overnight bus to Sabah, and the bus itself included an extra taxi ride from the drop-off point to your hotel; the driver was very proactive in promoting it. Although the drivers didn't speak English, they were very willing to communicate with you using Google Translate, so don't worry about communication issues, as most people only go to the same few places.★

It was a foggy day when we visited fansipan. So it's rather disappointing due to the early April weather and visibility was low and couldn't be wowed by the scenery on the peak. Tour package we signed up for did not include the fare for lunch buffet and the funicular ride. So be prepared to pay extra for these 2. On top of it, there are also additional charges for the tram ride up to fansipan peak (which we were aware of). Cat Cat village was fun and very vibrant. Alpine coaster ride was very fun and very safe but it's rather too short. Moana was just a lot of queuing up to take turns to take photos.★

We took the HK Open Tour from Hanoi to Sapa on March 16, 2026.
We spent a long time choosing and reading reviews.
👉We chose two lower berths. The day before departure, we received a WhatsApp message offering to change the time.
We decided that 12:30 was optimal, and it was the right decision. We checked out of the hotel without any problems and drove to our destination.
The manager explained everything in detail in an email and sent us a point on the map.
The minibus arrived, stopping a couple of times along the way to pick up other tourists.
We were at the bus within 30 minutes.
💤 Amenities: We were given bags for our shoes at the entrance.
- We were pleasantly surprised by the spacious bed, which could be adjusted to two positions: semi-sitting and lying down. Water, a napkin, pillows, and a blanket were provided.
I'm 185 cm tall, and the diagonal measurement was very comfortable, and it fit. Window shades, USB/Type-C charging ports, Wi-Fi, headphones, and a massage console.
- Buy yourself some fruit and candy, and don't drink too much on the road. Slippers are provided for when you leave. ⛰️They took us to the top of the Sapa, then a minibus arrived and took us to our hotel. Great bus and crew👍Trip.com picks
