We're a 70 year old couple of life-long mountain walkers, from the English Lake-District, who don't normally write reviews. ...We love Switzerland & have got to know other Swiss Alpine regions reasonably well over the last decade - but had never been to Zermatt before. If & when we return to Zermatt, we wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else - this hotel is just so excellent - it's hard to know where to begin !! We hugely enjoyed our week-long stay (in a "Design Superior Matterhorn Room" - with a view of the magnificent Matterhorn from one aspect of our room) - the attentive, obliging "hands-on" owners (a local Swiss family - all with excellent English); every member of their incredibly friendly, helpful, international, multilingual staff; the immaculate cleanliness; the amazing food - with the best, most varied breakfast offering we've ever experienced in a Swiss hotel (buffet of course - as is very much the Swiss norm). ... And, the Hotel's free-to-use spa facilities (particularly the steam room :-); it's convenient location for trails & transport - whilst on a pleasantly tranquil edge of the town. Switzerland is always expensive for us Brit's (particularly with the relative strength of the Swiss Franc just now) - but booking a fully-inclusive, half-board package, (including unlimited "Peak Pass" - for all of the mountain railways & cable-ways etc.) directly on the Hotel's website, was excellent, relative, value for money (Backed-up with attentive, helpful, informal email communication with their reception team & even a last-minute 'phone call to them - all conducted in perfect English - putting our foreign language skills to shame:-).
