Hotel Berner Zell am See

We have just spent a week in this wonderful hotel and we highly recommend it! The location, comfortable and clean rooms, delicous food, friendly and professional hotel staff and the overall family atmosphere was really on the top. Probably our best winter holidays ever.

A very comfortable family-run hotel with good food and a great location close to the citixpress lift. It's a short walk to the friendly town centre & the lake, with many bars and cafes. The real highlight was the very friendly and helpful staff. My wife hurt her knee early in our stay, and they could not have done more to help; booking taxis, arranging an appointment for a scan, etc. They arranged for a friend to bring our dinner up to our room one evening, found a stool so that my wife could sit in the shower, and it was all done with a smile. The hotel owner, Christophe, was always around making sure that everyone was comfortable. Some of the people in our party had dietary restrictions, and the kitchen had no problem accommodating them. The poor snow meant that the ski-in/out route wasn't in good condition, but in better weather it would have been easy to ski to and from the hotel door. I would very happily return for another stay.

We arrived on the 28th December and stayed until the 4th January. What an absolutely wonderful hotel. Christoff Berner and all his staff were wonderful. The whole of the Hotel is spotlessly clean and warm. The location is fabulous for the ski in ski out and only a five minute walk into town. Breakfast had numerous choices every day. The evening meals were lovely we were given a choice of two starters and three mains and two deserts every evening along with soup, salad and cheese board. On New Years Eve we had a fabulous Gala Dinner which consisted of seven wonderfully presented delicious courses. At midnight every table was presented with a bottle of Champagne and a rose, we actually missed this on the night as we were meeting with friends in town but to my amazement the following evening we were asked if we would like our Champagne as we had missed it so we had it the following evening. The pool and sauna area is really lovely too. I would recommend this hotel to everyone, it was just wonderful. It was definitely value for money so if you are thinking of booking don’t hesitate you won’t be disappointed.

We chose Berner hotel for our White Christmas holiday as we thought it will have a family feel to it. And we were not disappointed. Beautifully decorated for Christmas, Berner hotel run by the Berner Family, gave us unforgettable experience of Austrian festivities including traditional music, Christmas Eve gathering around Christmas tree with little chocolate gifts for each room under the tree, amazing meals and even sleigh ride. The attention to details was incredible. Our newly renovated Suite, consisting of two rooms, had plenty of storage space and beautiful views from two balconies, one giving us a view of the slope and the other , the panorama of the Zell am See with the lake. The breakfast buffet consisted of multiple choices of fresh breads, danish pastry, fruits, cheese, charcuterie, salads, eggs, cereals, seeds, juices, jams and the most important thing is that there was always gluten- or other allergies free option (on request - our daughter has severe multiple allergies). Similar with dinners! Thoughtfully created and beautifully presented evening dinner was always a choice (out of two options of each for starter, main and desert) to be made at breakfast. The main menu was always accompanied by a soup of the day and salad and cheese buffet. The spa area with the pool is just what you need after a day of skiing. Saunas (incl. Finish sauna) and steam room are spacious and in the proximity of the cold shower to add variety. And there is plenty of space on the loungers in the relaxation area. The staff is always very helpful and attentive and remembers your regular drink orders! We also bought ski passes on site as we thought it might be easier to do it at the reception than queueing at the gondola. Worth mentioning is that the hotel is situated close to the ski bus station which gives you the chance to get a seat on the bus to Kaprun. All we can say is a huge thank you to everyone in the hotel!

Having enjoyed a summer visit to the Hotel Berner we decided to stay over Christmas week with our adult family. We could not have made a better choice! Christof Berner and his team (not forgetting his parents) hosted a magical holiday. Even the weather played ball and the hotel’s location at the bottom of the Schmitten slopes was ideal for the skiers and most rooms have at least a partial view of the lake. The small outdoor pool, sauna and sun room was ideal for post ski relaxation. It’s also very close to the CityExpress gondola, bus stops and the train station for outings. The food is excellent, drinks are a reasonable price and the Christmas programme, particularly the sleigh ride, was unforgettable. We booked through Inghams for convenience but I would not hesitate to contact the hotel directly in the future.

Very welcoming staff, a very comfortable room and excellent food - a wide ranging buffet breakfast and a consistently high-quality six course dinner. The hotel is in a quiet part of the city but close to the lake, mountains, city centre and travel connections. The Zell am See Kaprun Summer Card was included - a real money saver.
