Impodimo Game Lodge

The safety at the lodge is not acceptable as elephants are in an among the chalets all the time. We had to call on the lodge whenever we moved from the chalets. We did not even use the pool or the hide as it was not safe. The camp is not fenced which makes it extremely uncomfortable; in fact, sitting outside at your chalet is also not pleasant and we were advised not to sit there at dusk/ night. I am surprised that there have not been more incidents due to the elephants. The flies at breakfast and mid-afternoon brunch were awful. The vehicles had no roof to shade us from the sun, fortunately, it did not rain. Will certainly not recommend or return to the lodge. Just to mention that we have been to many other lodges in Madikwe over the years. The staff were fine. The rooms and the in-room amenities were good. The Lodge deputy manager and our game ranger was great. Value for money, NO!

April 2025 I have no words for this game reserve apart from AMAZING! This isn’t a 5* reserve it is 6/7*. The staff and the surrounding are second to none. The way the staff cater to your every need is just wow, those small finishing touches do not go unnoticed and made our stay exceptional. Their instagram is accurate to the amazing animals you will see from your lodges and around the pool. We had the best time with our Ranger Sam and Lots. Both of them are amazing! The food at Impodimo is fantastic - if you love exceptional food then this is the place for you. We have truly fallen in love with South Africa due to the amazing service and experience we received at Impodimo. We will 1000% be returning and we can’t wait to see everybody when we do. We want to thank all the staff and rangers for making our stay truly magical!

We loved our stay at Impodimo. The staff and management were awesome and the same has to be said for tracker and guide. We travelled in a group of 4 - two couples- an were paired with another nice couple from the UK for game drives and meals. We had splendid sightings, an educational bush walk, delicious meals and a warm birthday surprise. The gin buffet in the bush was quite a surprise and we enjoyed our stay from roaring lions to visiting elephants. We’ll be back.

Our first time visit to Madikwe and Impodimo Game Lodge was absolutely amazing! The lodge area is un-fenced so be prepared to meet and greet your wild neighbours, literally on our door step :) Elephants, zebras, kudus, impalas and warthogs roaming around the premises . And the Elephant Hide has a small water hole, which attracts wildlife and give great photo opportunities whether you are a photographer or just enjoying wild company. The rooms are super spacious , with huge bed, large bathroom and even an outdoor shower! Special feeling to have morning/evenign shower under the African stars, we didn't use the indoor shower at all on our 5 nights stay. Air-co and a fridge for drinks. If something about the room, there is no (work)desk but we coped without. (would be handy for esp. for editing photos on a laptop and changing cameras, mobiles etc. ) The room was spotless and beautifully decorated , housekeepers did marvellous work. The staff was super friendly, always a smiling contact. Manager(s) had always time for a chat and were eager to hear what the game drives brought up. Our guide Sam and his tracker Lots were truly professional and had good ethical approach on wildlife and sightings, and had good stories(and facts!) to share on drives as well as at dinner table . Enjoyed every drive, thanks guys. Ah! Food - super tasty and plenty of variety with beautiful layouts. ! the kitchen team really know their stuff. My wife is a vegetarian and she was super-happy with the options she was served. The main lodge is also on a stunning location overlooking the plains.Having a morning coffee on the deck before heading out on a drive.... miss those moments already ! We will definitely be back one day. A huge Thank You to everyone at Impodimo Game Lodge for makin our stay so unique and memorable in every way.

We could not fault anything. My husband and I stayed 4 nights at Impodimo and loved every moment. We couldn't fault anything. The accommodation was wonderful, the staff was so helpful, the food was the best and the game drives were great and exciting. We saw all the Big 7. We couldn't ask for any better. Thanks Impodimo for the great experience.

Stunning lodge, amazing service, all the game, fantastic food and fabulous ranger. This was our family holiday of a lifetime and Impodimo certainly lived up to our hopes. We had rooms 9/10 which were a really stunning pair of rooms linked with a central ‘lounge’ and plunge pool. Each room has well appointed bathrooms and separate outdoor showers for that wilderness shower experience. The views out are over the lodge’s waterhole and are right beside the ‘hide’ which isn’t some netted uncomfortable spider infested hell-hole but an air conditioned and espresso furnished purpose built room next to the waterhole. The animals all come in and oh my do you get a close up view - it’s astonishing. The game drives follow a predictable format but Ryan our ranger was superb. His knowledge was really spectacular, his delivery clear and entertaining, and together with his tracker Wilfred, we had a dream team who found us everything! We really couldn’t have asked for more - lions and elephants, rhinos and cheetah, giraffe and buffalo and we will never forget the wild-dogs on a fresh Kudo kill! As for the food. Phew. So much. Possibly too much! The team looked after us so nicely. My wife’s gluten intolerance was never an issue. And all of it was delicious. So thankyou to the team at Impodimo you really made for a fantastic trip.
