Hotel Ur Bare

Wonderful location and friendly staff. By chance we booked our stay on the day of the hotel’s 1 year anniversary. The sauna facilities were welcomed after a 24km hike. We enjoyed breakfast on the terrace overlooking the ocean and the surfers.

Just a year old, the Hotel Ur Bare excels at just about any metric you’d want to use. For a start, the location is perfect, right on the edge of the coast overlooking the Zarautz beach. The design of the hotel is very pleasing, with modern neutral colours, wood and stone. I asked for a room with a sea view and was rewarded with a large suite with a balcony overlooking the ocean and beach. The room had every modern convenience, walk in shower, bathtub, and an extremely comfortable bed. With the sea air and soft pillows, I slept like a log. Not surprising because I also had a long lunch in the restaurant, which was excellent. On top of the great location and building, the staff are relaxed and friendly going out of their way to make you feel at home. Going on a road trip? There’s parking just by the entrance to reception, make sure you book a space. In summary, I chose the Hotel Ur Bare by searching the web, always a risk, but I struck gold as it exceeded my expectations.

What a wonderful, quaint and friendly hotel. With just 13 rooms you need to book early. The hotel was beautifully decorated. Modern, fresh and clean. It was spacious. The breakfast was brilliant and devoid of usual hotel ‘cheap’ condiments. With fresh jams made locally and juices from heaven. We didn’t eat here but given how busy it was the restaurant was clearly a hit. Our room overlooked the bay. With amazing sunrises across the shimmering breaking waves. The beds super-comfortable and fresh Egyptian cotton sheets. The roof top pool was superb. Just the perfect end to a day on the beach.

1) Spectacular location at the end of Zarautz beach. 100 yards from town but feels much more remote and surrounded with trees. Kids could walk from their room with surfboards to the beach in 5 minutes. 2) Great breakfast, wish we tried dinner there. It looked good too. 3) Service was extremely friendly. They made a dinner reservation at a restaurant we won't forget, El Astillero. Best meal of our trip. Seafood and steak a long walk or short drive around the corner in a neighboring seaport. Restaurant was across the parking lot from where the fisherman unload. We tried to decipher the menu with the waitress and she gave up and took us into the kitchen where the chefs were excited to show us all the fish and the grill. Don't miss it! 4) Rooms were beautifully done and recently too. Modern clean style.

Only lateral sea view from the room (paid as a sea view room) and very noisy as the room is located just above a cafe open until very late in the night. For the price paid it is absolutely unacceptable. I would not raccomend as there is a lot of better offer for this price or less just there around.

Extra ! Un petit hôtel avec beaucoup de charme, décoré avec goût, proche de la ville mais surtout au pied de la plage. Tout y est. Une piscine chauffée avec une vue incroyable, le petit déjeuner est excellent et le service au top. Les chambres disposent de tout le nécessaire, sont propres et les coussins…un pur bonheur ! 😊 S’il fallait donner un pti bémol, c’est la ventilation extérieure qui fait du bruit sur la petite terrasse (chambre vue jardin). Si on reste un peu dehors ou avec la fenêtre ouverte c’est ennuyeux. Le personnel est accueillant, chaleureux, disponible, souriant. Un clin d’œil particulier à Oihana qui est une personne très agréable, attentive, qui nous a accueilli joyeusement. Un coup de cœur pour notre famille. À découvrir sans hésitation.

Una atención excepcional, nos han tratado como verdaderas reinas. Las vistas son de ensueño y los productos de excelente calidad. Trato y servicio inmejorables, todo el personal se ha desvivido por atendernos y hacernos sentir como en casa.

1 week verbleven op familiekamer, niets heeft het aan ontbroken, prachtige kamer, prachtige inrichting, heerlijk ontbijt, strand voor de deur, waarschijnlijk 1 van mooiste hotel aan de kust. Hier komen we zeker terug. Restaurant en bar ook top! Dank aan alle medewerkers voor prachtige vakantieweek!

De luxe kamer (met uitzicht op zee volgens de tekst en foto's) bleek alleen (schuin)zeezicht te hebben als je vlak bij het laatste raam ging staan. Vervolgens gevraagd of ze kamer hadden die wel zeezicht had. Dit bleek een kleinere en minder luxe kamer met gedeeltelijk zeezicht. Echter wel de prijs moeten betalen voor de duurdere kamer. Het restaurant was redelijk, wel heel lange wachttijden tussen de gerechten door en ook niet iedere persoon kreeg gelijk met de tafelgenoten hun gerecht bleek uit de tafel naast ons. Het ontbijt was top, vers gezette koffie en eventueel ei naar wens.
