Stay Swanky Hostel

I'm not a frequent hostel-goer, but my stay here was less than impressive despite the high praise it often receives. The 11-person dorm felt cramped, featuring creaky wooden beds placed too closely together. The bedding and air quality left much to be desired. On the plus side, the facilities were decent and relatively clean, including a bar area that seemed underutilized both by guests and outsiders. Considering the £20 per night price tag, there are plenty of other options in Zagreb that offer a better value for the same cost

Kitchen is perfect, with everything you need. Bed and bathroom are clean. Staff here is very helpful. I hope can come back here

everything perfect to me. friendly staff. nice & warm bed (durring winter), a bar to chillout, kitchen to cook your meal, coffee machine for your hot coffee,tea,hot chocolate. & watch tv. what a happy day 😬 thumbs up. 10/10

Firstly, I have never considered staying in hostel accommodation, this was my first experience, and I wish I had considered it before! I made a last minute journey on a tight schedule and budget, so was desperate to arrange a bed for a few hours sleep, and a shower etc. A few days before, I emailed swanky hostel, to arrange. The contact was friendly, efficient and very welcoming. THEY EVEN BENT THE RULES A BIT..thankyou. Anyway I only stayed 12hours, but it was exactly what I needed, and I would recommend to anyone...'if you are not sure, just give it a go' The hostel was easy to find (I came from main bus terminal, jumped on a tram and arrived in no time). Each staff member was so friendly and efficient, really great. I stayed in 8 bed dorm (everyone asleep behind curtains when I arrived, and up and away before I woke). The showers/toilet were adequate. I only used the small communal kitchen, for boiling water as I was in such a rush, but there were always people there on each occasion and they looked to be enjoying themselves...there was a free coffee machine also, which I'm sure is welcome (I had my own anyway so didn't use it). Each guest I encountered was either keeping themselves to themselves, or friendly greetings/chat. On a side note, I only had time to rush round zagreb taking photos for a couple hours, before leaving, but the city looks great and can't wait to visit again soon (without rushing for football)...and see some of the earthquake repairs completed etc. Loved my 2days in croatia, and will definitely return with family. This is by far the best hostel I have stayed in...ever. We had a private room and it was very nice, clean and very up to date... The room had water, keddel and different teas. Good bed as well The breakfast was amazing - very fresh and Asian inspired. The pool was definitely very special at a hostel...and it was very nice. Service was tip-top and the staff was always helpful and flexible. I traveled with my teenager son - we both enjoyed the stay.

My husband snd I had a very wonderful and memorable stay in your quiet Swanky Royal dept. at R05 at Ilica 44, last June26- July1, 2024. Comfortable bed and pillows. We are very satisfied with the modern room’s interior lay-out and especially the several English speaking TV channels. Complimentary bottle of water, Nespresso coffee and different tea bag flavors refilled every three days. The cleaning of the very friendly and hospitable housekeeper, Manuel was perfect. The night shift at the Ilica 50, Ivor was very helpful in our distressing situation when our Suntransfer airport transfer didn't show up as promised at 6:05 July1. He did two calls to the Suntransfer and lastly arranged a taxi to fetch us. Ivor facilitated that we ate breakfast upon our arrival on June 26, in exchange for a take-away breakfast bag during our departure last July 1. Last June 26 8:45 we received a heartwarming welcome at the Swanky Mint reception at Ilica 50, from the smiling receptionist, Maja. This made us feel at home at the very first moment . She gave us a thorough introduction of the Hostel, the tourist sights nearby and accompanied us to our accommodation at the modern Swanky Royal dept.at Ilica 44. Her restaurant recommendation at Kod Pere was superb. We were able to borrow umbrellas which were forgotten/left by former guests. Helena at the breakfast restaurant gave us everyday a respectful welcome and a friendly service. Without her guidance, we wouldn't be successful to take the tram and bus ride to and from the Arena Centar. Jerome at the breakfast restaurant was kind, service-minded and accommodating to my special needs due to Diabetes. When the bottled lemon juice ran out, he saw to it that I got a fresh lemon juice with 2 sweetener tablets Zoe, Lucija, Jovil, Tiago and Ivor answered all my inquiries and requests via emails. A real good service to guests. There was a need of a soap dispenser or a bottle of soap at the swimmingpool toilet. All guests staying at the modern Swanky Royal dept. at Ilica 44 must be informed and shown how to close the door to the corridor, upon leaving or entering the area. ( The door must be strongly pushed to close it.) We have experienced most of the time, that the door was half-opened thus we didn’t need to use our keycard to enter the corridor. We only used our keycard to open our room R05. What a unique history Swanky Mint Hostel has! Originally an old laundry factory transformed into a beautiful hostel. A magnificent blend of the old and the new. It’s location, only 10 min.walk to the city center and in the midst different shops, bakeries, restaurants and cafés, gives it a BIG PLUS!

This is a wonderful little hostel and bar right close to the main square of the old Zagreb town. The hostel is also right next to a tram station so easy to walk or get a tram. Rooms are small and basic but quite and well appointed for the price played. There are several small bars and a restaurant serving Asian infusion type meals.
