After leaving Adelaide SA, on route to Bendigo VIC, our first evening on the road was spent at this lovely B & B, Riverview House in Younghusband, overlooking the mighty Murray River. First to catch my eye was the bright welcoming blue of the house, then as we drove up the driveway, the metal sculptures and wall art dotted around the garden, wide verandah and outdoor entertaining area told me I was in for a treat! On entering the living area, we were greeted by Scott who showed us upstairs to our tastefully furnished, comfortable room with ensuite, tea/coffee making facilities and a bar fridge which is so handy for travellers. The indoor balcony outside our room overlooked the living, dining and kitchen area which was filled with a colourful collection of art pieces, each with their own story I’m sure, and a kaleidoscope of colour to the eye. Our hosts Scott and Mark, who are both trained chefs, made us feel most welcome and joined us for dinner, providing a nourishing, home cooked meal. Breakfast for the two of us on the outdoor deck was another treat, overlooking the Murray on a sunny morning. Earlier, my husband spotted the riverboat paddlewheeler ‘PS Murray Princess’ as it passed by at 7am, but I imagine the real treat would be to see this grand dame pass by all lit up as you sip on a glass of red out on this delightful deck! It was a great overnight stay, with lovely hosts, and a comfortable bed! Thank you, Scott and Mark.
