The owner is so hospitable, friendly, helpful, and the best host you can ever find. He is always trying his best to meet the needs of his guest, and offering more than you ask for. The best accommodation choice in Yakushima! He also prepares lovely meals with many different varieties throughout my stay.

I had a new private little cabin with a sea and mountain view. It even had a great little porch where I smoked my cigar and savored the views. For me though, it was the owners Kentaro and Satoko that make this place special. They are genuinely kind and love what they do. Kentaro even honored me by joining my grueling hike up Mt. Motchomudake. I must also give a shout out to one of the staff, Kako. She was possibly the friendliest person I met in Japan! She also added to the warmth of Shikinoyado.

Shikinoyado was such a great find and highlight to our trip to Yakushima Island. Kentaro-san was an awesome host and cook. The food was excellently prepared and we looked forward to both breakfast and dinner there every night. There is a public onsen about 3 minutes drive from here, warning as the water is VERY hot. Even though it rained 2 out of 3 days on our trip, we were still able to find enough things to do to occupy our time. Definitely would recommend Shikinoyado to anyone who decides to visit Yakushima. Get the tankan orange juice. It's the best OJ I've ever had. Really clean room and great views of the ocean and mountain. Be prepared to see bugs around since it's a rural place.

We had the most magical stay at Shikinoyado. Kentaro's hospitality extended from the moment we booked, helping us with organising camping gear and restaurant reservations. But our stay itself was incredible. The hotel is situated right behind Mount Motchomudake and there are stunning views on both sides. On our first night, we were treated to traditional barbecue with fresh fish, meat and vegetables from Yakushima. We ate delicious breakfast each morning from the terrace above the dining room. And on the night that dinner wasn't served at the hotel, Kentaro helped us make a reservation at a nearby restaurant and lent us bikes to make the trip (with a short stop-off at the local onsen, an absolute must visit). I can't recommend this place more: it's unlike anywhere I've ever stayed!

料理が繊細で美味しい。裏手にそびえるモッチョム岳を眺めながらの朝食は格別。事前にメールでやり取りして伝えた要望も、宿についてから無理を言った要望も最大限聞き入れて理想の滞在を叶えてもらえます。屋久島は2回目だけど、次もまたここに泊まりたいと思いました。

屋久島の最後の2泊をこちらにお邪魔しました。 到着と同時に宿から出てきて迎えてくださり、歓迎されているのを感じました。お食事も、他のところで毎日のように飛び魚の姿揚げを食べていたので、最後は違うものがいいと、前日にリクエストしたら希望を聞いてくださいました。とても美味しかったです。宿から見えるモロムッチョ岳もとても綺麗です。最後、出発の時には両手を振ってお見送りしてくださり、また、きっとここに帰ってきたいと思いました。

予約の段階から親切にいろいろ教えてくださりました。 2泊滞在しましたが、屋久島の一番の想い出がこちらの「四季の宿」でした。 モッチョム岳が一番美しく見える場所であり、食事もモッチョム岳を眺めながら、屋久島の郷土料理を存分に楽しみました。 何より、オーナー夫妻のお人柄の素晴らしさ・・・、一段と屋久島が好きになったのはお二人のおかげでした。 半露天風呂やお部屋のデッキでのんびりと景色を眺めながらの贅沢な時間。 次回はまた違うお部屋からの眺めを楽しみたいので、絶対にリピートしようと思います。
