Our goal was to visit the Terracotta Army, one of the world wonders. And ... hooray! That worked out, really worth seeing. Lintong, there is the sight, is an ideal starting point for it.
But to the point, the James Joyce Hotel was disappointing. Contrary to the description, there is no breakfast, no non-smoking rooms, no good coffee and from our point of view it is not a cheap hotel. We would rate the hotel one star lower. We discussed this with trip.com after our arrival. They helped us a lot, organized a better smelling room and offered to find another hotel if we were not satisfied - perfect service!
We stayed here because we were tired after the journey, and after visiting some other rooms, we found the acceptable, better smelling room. But, it was not good, it was a compromise.
Now some good news. The Terracotta Army is really worth seeing and so is Lintong. Lintong is a small city near Xi'an with approximately half a million inhabitants. This small city has so many beautiful streets and alleys, so many nice stores and markets that it would be a pity to come here just for the Terracotta Army. We recommend a one-day longer stay for a sightseeing and shopping tour in Lintong.
