Wuyuan's Chongbenzhai Homestay, a Huizhou-style courtyard dwelling by the river, is nestled in Wangcun on the banks of the Moon Bay River, a renowned ecological scenic spot on the outskirts of Wuyuan. Situated approximately 500 meters from the Wuyuan North entrance of the Hangzhou-Ruili Expressway, it enjoys convenient transportation. Its location is defined by longitude: 117.879193 and latitude: 29.304955. Here, lying on the bed, one can hear the gentle murmur of the stream; looking out of the window, a picturesque landscape unfolds.
The restoration and renovation of Chongbenzhai received generous support from Master Yu Youhong, the representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage project of "Wuyuan Woodcarving". It employs precious ancient building components from the Ming, Qing, and Republic of China eras, such as intricately carved brick gatehouses, stone pillar piers, and exquisitely carved wooden beams and pillars. Restored to its original glory, it exudes an air of ancient charm. The central hall, with its long table, armchairs, wooden beds, and tables, are all crafted from rare tree species like rosewood, padauk, and century-old fragrant camphor. The hall is charmingly simple and unique, while the wing rooms are elegant. It features guest rooms named Chongbenzhai, Cungengzhai, Nongmozhai, Xianyanzhai, Zuichazhai, Guanfuzhai, Jiyazhai, and Shouzhuozhai. Amidst this serene setting, one can appreciate the masterpieces of calligraphy, painting, porcelain art, and photography.
The homestay's owner, Can Gong, adheres firmly to respecting the fundamentals and harbours a longing for the years of farming. Though lacking in extensive knowledge and erudition, he quietly resides in the countryside, ceaselessly devoting himself to writing. Fond of a worn-out brush, playing with two lenses, and displaying a modicum of talent, and with the support of people from all quarters, he can immerse himself in the beauty of nature and travel the world to capture its essence through photography. As a member of the Chinese Photographers Association, the China News Photography Society, the Photographic Society of America (PSA), the Jiangxi Writers Association, and the Jiangxi Essay Society, he has authored the collection "Strolling Along with Fate and Singing", the current affairs commentary album "Broken Bow and Short Arrow", and the photography album "Kangba Reverie", "Huizhou Charm and Wuyuan Rhyme", and "On the Road of Photography". He has published approximately 2.6 million words of writings in media such as Xinhua News Agency, People's Daily, and Jiangxi Daily. Sincerely await your presence to discuss the wonders of light and shadow and share the joys of writing and painting.
