This hotel was described by *********** as family owned and with a restaurant on site, so I booked it for two nights using my credit card. Upon arrival, after a long drive, the hotel was dark en the restaurant closed. Other guests, smoking outside, told me about it being a “digital hotel” and that I should have received a code, which I did not. After being on hold on the not free of charge helpdesk phone line for quite some time, they eventually gave me a four digit code to enter my room without any form of verification. Outside there were old fashioned lock boxes containing normal keys, which could be opened with the exact same code, which made me feel even more unsafe. In the room I found a folder with some information, such as that there would be cleaning of the room only every two days, again something I did not know anything about. The next morning the breakfast turned out to be very scarce, the coffee machine was out of order and soms guy turned up when I was already eating, telling me that he could not find my reservation and that I had to pay 15 euro per person on site in cash. Website however spoke of 12 euro. There was nobody when we left, so we could not pay, although the Booking site had said that we had to pay at the hotel. With the credit card reservation in mind and sending an email about us not being able to pay, we left. A few days later we received an email, answering just two of our five questions. They told us that they would let us know how to pay. Then it remained silent, until the not so friendly email arrived about the outstanding invoice with not a word about the 30 euro’s for breakfast. Needless to say I never will return here.
