This hotel seemed to have the highest rating for the area, so I made the mistake of thinking it would be a good place to stay. This hotel was by far the low point of our road trip and the worst stay of the 7 hotels we booked. The hotel and rooms are totally outdated, transporting me back to the 1990s. They were still using the magnetic stripe slide in locks, the TVs are not smart ones. One of the landline phones in our room didn't work, but there was a second one that did. I also should have taken better notice of the fact that the front desk employees had to have a space heater in order to stay warm. The pool is small, with some fountains and seemed to be about 80F. Towels were provided and the hotel desk keeps track of how many people are in the pool at one time. The first room I was given, 315, had not been cleaned. The bathroom sink had a dirty glass in it, there were little bits of trash around on the floor and it failed the Swiffer test. The final straw was the HVAC unit didn't seem to work. We were moved to room 615, which was also dusty and had several issues, but had at least been mostly cleaned. I pondered leaving and trying to get a different hotel, but we had driven 5 hours up a heavily trafficked Route 95 and we were in no shape to keep going. I kept Room 615, which faced West. I bring Lysol wipes and Swiffers and I cleaned the room surfaces to the best of my ability, despite it being as if the hotel housekeeping was run by PigPen of Peanuts. The couch was dusty, so I covered it with extra sheets and blankets. I also covered both mattresses with allergy covers and the pillows, too. The bathroom was the separate toilet and tub rooms, also with the sliding noisy translucent barn doors, so there is the possibility of disturbing your partner's sleep when getting up to pee in the night. Half the lights in the room didn't work, so it was very dark. The HVAC unit was unreliable and the temperature in our room went down to 59F. I finally got sick of trying to get the heat to work and shut off the system entirely, which brought up the room temperature to 64F by the time we went to sleep. I got an extra blanket for my husband, since he was cold. I bring my own bedding due to allergies, so that was a saving grace for me. As we settled into our beds in this chilly room, our hopes of getting sleep were dashed to bits. At around 10 pm, extremely loud drag racing in the area started. Engines popping and revving in the Telegraph Road commuter lot, which our room faced, so it sounded like it was right outside our window. This ended about 3 am, but we needed to be up around 6:30 am to begin the final leg of our road trip back to NJ. The front desk staff at this hotel made no attempt at setting anything right, aside from moving us from one dustbin room to another. The free breakfast looked very small and we just wanted out of this place, so we left as early as we could the next morning.
