Hotel Indigo Winston-Salem Downtown

Hotel staff was outstanding, good value for money and great downtown location.

The Hotel Indigo is a modern hotel in downtown Winston-Salem, walking distance to restaurants and shops. We enjoyed our stay here, finding the rooms up-to-date and comfortable. The A/C system worked well – easily adjustable and not too loud, which can be an issue given how hot and humid it is in the South. The room had an annoying design, as there was insufficient clearance between the bed and the desk when in use. The front desk attendant was slow to process my check-in and, more importantly, always on her phone, a very bad look especially since there was no “front desk” to speak of – she was just out there, in a chair, on her phone. And then when we needed to valet the car during a rainstorm no one came. In sum, while the front end service was poor, the rest of the experience was fine.

My family has stayed here a few times while visiting the area. I like the way it's decorated. The vibe is very urban and friendly. The rooms are decent sized and the beds are very comfortable. There is a beautiful bar in the lobby as well. One small drawback is that there is no on site parking. Also, as others have noted the floors can be very creaky. Also, if you're in a room along the front of the hotel, you may hear some street noise on a weekend night. Overall, still a very nice hotel and very centrally located.

Beautiful hotel with an historical feel. The lobby and my room was very clean. The only complaints I have were the scratches all on the tables and caulking in shower were coming apart. Just makes me wonder what does maintenance do? Being that my husband is a director of maintenance at an historic hotel. He pointed these things out and said this could cause for a great place to end up not being so great. Also the shower door just seems to be stuck or just needing some maintenance. Other than that, the housekeeping staff was very nice and did a great job on my stayover service

Read the recent reviews and don’t stay here! Don’t be fooled by the ratings because this is not a 4 star hotel! This is the absolute worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. We had another guest have access to our room with their keycard and the front desk wouldn’t give us a switch our room keys. They did not care for our safety and still are withholding the room access record because they don’t want to admit they gave someone else access to our room When we checked in, both us and our family got checked into dirty rooms and had to request a room change. After our room was “cleaned” our second day there, we asked for housekeeping to give us new sheets due how dirty it was and the front desk staff member Angel said that the housekeeping staff was gone for the day and it wasn’t her job to service our room, so we had to ***** our own bed and carry new bedding up to our room so we didn’t have to sleep in a dirty bed. The last day, our room was not even cleaned and we asked for clean towels, we had the housekeeper barge into our room and threaten us. She was screaming and other hotel guests came out of their room to see what was going on because she was yelling and swearing over asking for clean towels! When I spoke about the disappointment, Angel did not want to do anything and served other customers in front of me. I asked for a manager because of Angel not caring to assist, I wait for a manager, Charlie for an hour and then was told her manager left for the day without being spoken with. When I asked for the manager the next day, she “didn’t remember” what time she left the previous day. We tried to give the feedback to the manager, Charlie did not care about our concerns and said that the front desk staff was their best customer service member. After all of this, our credit card was charged two different amounts. They charged our credit card for someone else’s room and the hotel has still not given us our money back! I even reached out to the manager, Charlie and she has not responded. The disappointment in the professionalism, safety and cleanness of this hotel is unacceptable. Don’t let your trip be ruined by this hotel when there are plenty of other great hotels down the street!

I will never stay here again. There was no valet parking last night 4/26/24 and tonight 4/27/24. The check-in parking holds 2 cars and the valet apparently used that as a place to park cars. Had to park down the street to check-in. I heard him tell several people he had no valet parking available. I circled over 10 times last night before I found a spot on the street. It was on a street behind the hotel about a 200 yard walk to the hotel. Tonight it was probably 20 times before a spot opened up near the hotel. Almost an hour. After finally finding a place to park I went by the bar to get a drink before I went to the room. The bartender said she was closed. It was 10:20 on a Saturday night and the bar was not supposed to be closed. She said they had been busy and decided to close early. I went to Trader Joe’s yesterday and bought some items that needed to be refrigerated but apparently this hotel does not have refrigerators so I had to go purchase a cooler at Walmart. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are very nice but I won’t be staying here again.

We were in Winston-Salem for a weekend wedding (3 nights). Except for one of the Valet and one girl who checked us in, the experience at the hotel was awful. The room was dirty (i.e., when we went to do the Keurig Coffee the first morning the coffee cup has been used before). When the front desk was told, they said just get another one. The bar and restaurant have no atmosphere and the rooms are not cheap. We were supposed to get a "wedding bag" but did not receive and was told by another wedding guest that she saw 6 left sitting there on Sunday. The staff was not friendly and had NO knowledge of anything about Winston-Salem and we were downtown! They did not want to be bothered about anything!

I stayed at this hotel back in 2023 and my stay wasn’t great, the people seemed like they didn’t care. The room was dirty, bed looked like someone already slept in it and the mirrors were streaked all up, but this stay was different. I can tell somebody put some love in to the detailing. Beds were tight. Mirrors clean. Everything looked nice and neat. Also had a fresh smell as soon as I opened the door. All the housekeepers were nice and welcoming. One thing I did notice were the people at the front desk. They seemed not to really care to much. Sitting around preoccupied with their phones and gossip.

This is a very chic hotel. Right in downtown Winston Salem and walking distance to some great eateries, bookstores, and activities. The rooms are HUGE with high ceilings and comfortable beds. Sure enjoyed chatting with Charley at the front desk and Reggie at valet. They were fun, engaging, and extremely helpful. The food in the restaurant was wonderful. Try the shrimp and grits! YUM! I'll be back often.
