Clarion Pointe Winslow I-40

The hotel is very shabby & greatly in need of repairs. The room was fairly clean but the furniture is worn. I guess I was expecting more considering the price. ~D

I mentioned to the woman (I won’t name her - very kind) that checked me in, that I saw comments about “newly renovated units”. Since the hotel wasn’t full, she was more than happy to tell me “I’ll put you in one of our nicest rooms. That’s number 108.” Just pass on this. Pretty clearly, exterior paint and some nice pictures on the Internet do not reflect the age of this property. Now, I will say, if they chose to go and buy outlet or otherwise used furniture to appoint the rooms. They nailed it. Office chair, couch, toilet, (not mounted securely to the floor) shower (mold), showerhead, tile, carpet, stain in the middle of the carpet, all of it - looks decades old. While the bed was squeaky, it was comfortable and I got a good sleep, but for $120 (total) for the night, it should’ve been much better. This is a $50 freeway room at best. If this room was in fact, renovated in the last five years, stop calling it renovated - it’s ready for another renovation or certainly a better contractor. If you’re gonna stay a couple days to see the Petrified Forest or Meteor Crater, do yourself a favor and go to La Pasada.

If you’re a contractor and considering staying here, bring your own towels. I was charged an extra $42 for staining their towels. I work out doors and it was completely unavoidable. I called the manager to request a refund on the added charge. He wouldn’t budge. If you can’t avoid getting dirty for work, stay somewhere else.

This place is right off the interstate and a previous reviewer suggested asking for a room away from highway which I did and I have to say this was one of my quieter places I’ve ever stayed. It was clean and staff was very nice The front desk gentleman was efficient and friendly and the morning lady in breakfast room was attentive and helpful. It’s a very basic breakfast, waffles, hard boiled eggs, package oatmeal but for the price of room, it was fine. The rooms have been redone, my only comment is that the decision to paint the shower enclosure rather than replace wasn’t the best. At least in 237, it is beginning to come off. That being said I’d definitely stay here again

Room was well appointed but b'fast was skimpy (a waffle). Doors are noisy when closing and a guest was yelling at times. Steel bed skirt is noisy, as well, and bothersome. I did like how easy it was to get onto 2nd Street and over to The Park, however.

The is the old Quality Inn. We stayed there on the day it changed over, which made it a little interesting to find as we had no idea it was changing. It's an older hotel that we had stayed here before as it's right off of I40 and still had smoking rooms. But not anymore, the front desk told me that the smoking rooms were ending that week as part of the change over. As to be expected there was a lot of work being done but the place does need a makeover. I didn't take any photos as everything sounds like it will be changing. The front desk staff was very friendly and apologetic for all the changes and work being done. The room was ok, the bed was comfortable and for the price it's good enough. It's gets an average rating with everything in mind.

Staff was great BUT............... The hallway oustide of the handicapped rooms was wet and smelled moldy. You need to lift the carpet, remove the carpet padding, extract as much water as possible and get high speed blowers to dry the area to avoid the mold. A basic floor fan does not do the job. And as an extra bonus........ the hot water went out during the night and in the morning so cold showers was the norm. But it came back on after we had packed and were just about to check out.. Also the breakfast area is at the inside pool. So if you dont mind chlorine smells..................

Well, where do I start?The worst hotel we have ever stayed in. It was filthy, inside & out. There was a drunken vagrant asleep on the pavement close to the entrance door when we first arrived. The disabled accessible room we had booked & had been confirmed by the hotel via email, was not available. Check-in guy said they only had 1 accessible room & it was already taken! He was scruffy, rude & very unhelpful - told us to go elsewhere if we weren't satisfied. As it was between 5 & 6pm when we arrived & we didn't have any internet access to book an alternative, we had no option but to stay. After initially refusing, he eventually offered us a 20% discount after we said that we weren't getting what we had originally paid $219 for. Pool was closed, full breakfast menu not available, carpets in corridors were absolutely filthy - not vacuumed at all during our stay. Allocated a 'normal' room near a side entrance door with a disgustingly filthy & dangerous door mat in place that was a serious trip hazard. This door was slammed multiple times throughout the night - very noisy from 10pm to 6am. Bugs crawling on floor in bathroom, bathroom door badly scuffed & dirty, bathroom tiles broken, bathroom panels around bath tub cracked and dirty. Coffee maker situated in bathroom - not the most hygienic place to locate it, so didn't use it. No housekeeping service offered due to 'no contact' policy - not many people would actually stay in the room whilst it is being cleaned, so think this was just an excuse to save work & money. Beds uncomfortable and the 4 pillow were squashed to half their size & pushed into pillowcases which were also squashed to half their size - why?? This made the pillows very hard & the size of scatter cushions. Outside areas dirty and untidy. Workmen hammering & knocking throughout the day. A receipt for the payment we made at check-in was promised when we checked out, but this did not materialise. There was no staff present at the reception desk to request this or to report the issues we had with the room & hotel - just a box on the counter for guests to drop their keys in when they left. We couldn't wait to get out of this place - and left hours before the check-out time. This place is an absolute disgrace & should be investigated by Quality Inns as it is not fit for purpose as it stands. We have visited Winslow on multiple occasions prior to this trip and thought that we would try the Quality Inn, hoping for a better quality of room and service. The hotel definitely does not live up to its name and we will never, ever stay there again. We would certainly encourage any potential guests to avoid this place at all costs. In hindsight, if we had been able to access & read the reviews for the hotel prior to our arrival, we would have made alternative plans. AVOID!!
