Discovery Parks - Darwin

If WIFI is important don't stay here!! After travelling for 17 hours and looking forward to catching up on news and emails I arrive to find the small print on their welcome leaflet says they ' Offer LIMITED and INTERMITTENT acces for guests to check emails and search the internet'. I'm not a teenager who needs my internet acces limited. For NZ$159 per night, this is an absolute rip-off. I would not have booked here, to stay in what is a basic donga, and no WIFI. So now I'm having to use mobile data to do the basics. And if you like reading by a dull yellow / brown light, well you'll be happy with the lighting. otherwise bring a torch. Unimpressed? Sure am!

In our basic cabin we had everything we needed. The kitchenette was well stocked with utensils and dishwares. Very clean and the beds super comfortable. We also enjoyed the pool on those hot Darwin afternoons.

Accomadation cabin was fine, bed comfy had everything we needed. Park was clean and tidy. Had 2 x pools, jumping pillow for kids. Close to airport so could hear planes taking off. Bit out of town not too far though. Overall nice stay

About 10km out of Darwin it didn't take long to get to the CBD. The local bus stop is just outside which we used a couple of times although they don't run very late at night for an evening out. We learnt after the first night that we had to buy ear plugs to get a descent nights sleep as the noise from the airport and the Stuart Highway day and night is not good. The van park sites and facilities very good.

Suits people with caravan parks or cars but also people who flew into Darwin. Use 1 bus into town each hour - Bus No 8 but must be back by last bus at 9.20pm, or use ride share after this. Clean and tidy cabins with air con and fan. Good to air in afternoon with the breeze that comes through. I was worried about being close to airport but the plane noises were not a concern, but close to RAF base which unexpected to know that fighter jet planes go overhead in the day time. Nil overnight issues. Suits singles, families and couples. No local shops for groceries but again, you can travel by bus to the local shops 15 mins away. Cabins have cooking facilities

Our cabin was clean with an excellent modern bathroom and comfortable bed. There was a double hot plate and microwave with sufficient cooking utensils and pans to make a simple meal. We found the deck at the front very useful. There were washing machines available for guests for a charge. Our cabin was surrounded buy vegetation, which was great, but the downside was that our cabin was next to the Stuart Highway and very close to both the civilian and RAA airfields. The noise during the day from about 8:30 am until about 5 pm of fighter jets flying low overhead was deafening. We could not get WiFi and were told by staff that they were working on it, but it was not available for the whole 5 days of our stay. The caravan/cabin park is quite a long way from the CBD.
