Goswell House

Great sized room, well located and perfect for what we needed. Decor is good. No shared amenities and no onsite reception.

There is no front desk, and the location navigation is not particularly easy to find, but it is very clean。

The location simply cannot be beat, just a block and a half from the train station, and two blocks from the castle. The establishment is run more like a B&B, but it is the size of a true hotel. Check-in was done by the housekeeping staff, as there is no front desk. Other than that, you would never know that you are not in a typical hotel. We booked two large rooms that were both very large with modern bathrooms and air conditioning that worked very well. An excellent option for the price.

Super location near train station and castle. I’m 72 and managed to carry bags to the inn from the station. It had a large modern bathroom and a large room with comfortable beds. Air- conditioned, insulated from any street noise. Clean quite comfortable. Breakfast is served yourself cold continental which suited us after 12 days of full English breakfast. SO just help yourself to granola, yogurts, oj or apple juice . Cook yourself some toast and grab some jam. There’s hot water for coffee and tea. I would have enjoyed some brewed coffee but the Black Sheep coffee house is just a few steps away out the front door and turn left

Stayed with a friend in a twin room. Really clean and comfortable, with ensuite bathroom, towels provided. Tea and coffee facilities in room. No nice view from our room, but does that matter? Didn't bother us. Quiet room, probably due to triple glazing. Not sure how to open windows, but there is air conditioning. Breakfast is great in our opinion. Tea, coffee, juices, choice of porridge and cereals, various flavours and options. Fresh fruit, yoghurts, toast, croissants. Anyone who wants more from a continental breakfast is just being awkward. Position is great, just around the corner from train station, shops and most importantly Windsor Castle. We only met one member of staff who seemed to do everything. He was really helpful and we hope he gets paid his worth! Sort of strange without a reception desk, but hey ho. In short, we would recommend and would stay here again.

Great location. Clean. No lifts so less mobile should be wary. Faceless property, only encountered one guy who was the cleaner. Was not keen on our room 512, window was frosted glass and could not open it either. So effectively no window at all. Try Sebastian’s next door for fabulous Italian food.

Goswell House is a great central location for the castle, high street and restaurants. Everything is a couple of mins walk away. On arrival, I rang the doorbell and did have to wait a little while for someone to come and check me in. I think there must have only been one member of staff working at any one time. Lovely entrance hall with character. Our twin room (which I was sharing with a friend) was lovely - spacious and really comfy beds. Bottled water provided on arrival (as shown in photo). There was a stain on the duvet cover (but this was duly sorted when I rang reception) and we couldn't work out how to open the windows. We both slept comfortably for the two nights we were there - very quiet - could not hear any noise either from outside or from other rooms. In fact, we only saw one other group during our entire stay. I think what lets Goswell House down is its breakfast. Yes - it is advertised as self-service - so we expected that. Breakfast is served between 8-10am in a room with many two seater tables. There was a selection of cereals including instant oats. There were also some croissants and sliced bread. There was a microwave and toaster available for use, along with some yoghurts, fruit, juice and milk in the fridge. Paying around £6 each for breakfast each day, I think more variety would be expected. Also it was not clear if we had to wash up our own dishes - there was a washing up sponge and liquid - but we decided just to put our dishes in the dishwasher. I think breakfast would be enhanced if there was a member of staff around, clearing plates etc. A change here would really elevate Goswell House up to the expectations of a hotel seeing as that is what they market themselves as. So overall: Pros: comfy bed, good-sized room, quiet, good location Cons: lack of staff presence, self-service breakfast, not a 'hotel' feel.

We had a 1 night stay as a family of 4. The room was one of the best family rooms I’ve stayed in - very spacious, all the beds (including travel cot!) were comfy. Nice spacious bathroom. We heard no noise at all yet our room overlooked the main shopping street, so ignore old reviews complaining of noise as their new double glazing clearly has done the job. There are lots of parking options nearby and given the fantastic location of the hotel/B&B we didn’t mind not having on site parking. So many restaurant options and literally a few minutes walk to the castle. I’ve rated it 4/5 rather than 5/5 as the breakfast wasn’t great and didn’t have a lot of the options that were advertised (no crumpets or bagels) and the croissants tasted stale. Ideally the room would have had a small fridge. Overall great value for money though

Perfect location in Windsor town center - literally 160 meters / 500 feet from the castle itself, and tucked on a side alley-way off a main shopping pedestrian thoroughfare. Plenty of dining options within walking distance, and logistically it is easy to get to. The Windsor-Eton CENTRAL station is 1-2 blocks away, and the Windsor-Eton RIVERSIDE rail station is a 10 minute walk. There is not a reception or front desk - and no in-house bar or restaurant, so it's almost a bit like an AirBnb/VRBO setup, but the layout is a traditional hotel. Definitely coordinate with the management to let them know your arrival time and if you need help with luggage. Overall I had a fantastic stay (albeit brief - only one night) but certainly recommend it.
