Homewood Suites by Hilton Wilmington Downtown

This hotel is located on the Riverfront. There is a walk outside and a couple of restaurants. We did not care for this hotel. First, the beds were made sloppily [see photos] , the bedspreads don’t match, the pillow cases were so wrinkled we thought someone might have slept on them and the door to our room stuck so bad we had to push it open with a shoulder and slam it shut with your body. There are signs by the elevator saying ice is on floor 2 and 5 but no signs on the floors telling you where it’s located. On 2 it’s at the furthest end of the hall which I found only by walking the whole thing. And, I don’t agree with a hotel like this charging $12 a day parking. The breakfast was the usual included fare. I definitely would not stay here again

This place is absolutely beautiful. The girls at the front desk were so welcoming. The rooms were very clean spacious. We were on the 6th floor and had an amazing view from our room. Walk right out the back of the hotel and we were right on the river trail. Great location to restaurants and the baseball stadium.

Working the Phish Mondegreen festival, we encountered a last minute problem at another hotel. I booked an employee rate room on Tuesday night, for Wednesday and Thursday night stay. All 3 front desk associates were nice. Breakfast is the standard and was very appreciated by the 2 of us. Every associate we encountered was very friendly. Parking in front of the hotel was full both nights, but I was directed to park in front of Planet Fitness, in next lot over. I have a Planet Fitness membership, so I went inside to check out the facilities. The gentleman told me to park in front of lot, so that gave me an extra sense of security. This hotel sits on the riverfront, pretty cool little area with restaurants. Highly recommend..

Stayed at the hotel with a group of family members for a wedding this past weekend. Was checked in by the front office manager Latonya ( I think was her name). Upon entering the hotel she was rude and not welcoming at all. Every question she answer with rolled her eyes and smacked her teeth. No eye contact, smile or sense of knowing how to be a professional adult in a work place environment. She seem to not want to be there or not interested in helping me, a paying customer. I can’t see how someone can have the title with manager in it and not know how to treat customers or just be a nice person in general. This left a very bad impression on my family staying there. Nothing about this was the Hilton promise or even how you interact with customers. I would be ashamed to have this type of person represent my desk. On the other hand the rest of the staff was great. From the night front desk agents to maintenance being quick to resolve issues. I wish I would have not had my trip start off with the unprofessionalism, attitude and disrespect from a manager. Who also seemed to be proud or her “I don’t care attitude” asking did I want her to transfer me to her GM to leave a detailed message. Maybe the staff should train the manager on how to deliver great customer service to guest or she should find a new line of work. First impression is everything and we prob won’t be back due to the situation.

The location is great, right on the river, you can walk down to restaurants, or rent bikes or play miniature golf. Longwood Gardens is only 30 minutes away. The room was nice and clean with a beautiful view. The kitchen was well stocked. The free breakfast was good and we could take it out to enjoy on the patio. The desk staff were all friendly and helpful, especially the front office manager, Jim. We will be back!

The staff members are friendly and helpful. Both women who I interacted with at the front desk were extremely welcoming, kind, and informative! I was super happy that we were able to check-in early without any additional fees, as we arrived by train a few hours before check-in. The room itself was beautiful and clean, with everything we needed. The river view was awesome (we stayed on the 6th floor)! This hotel is a bit pricier than where I would normally stay, but since it was only for a night I felt the splurge was worth it for both the view and the location. Having multiple restaurants within walking distance was convenient, and we also only had to walk 20 minutes to the train station and about 30 minutes to get into downtown. My partner and I enjoyed the breakfast, which was included in our stay and offered a variety of items. We also really appreciated being able to leave our bags by the check-in desk after check-out, as it allowed us to explore a bit more of the surrounding area before heading home. The one downside, and reason for a 4 star rating instead of 5, is the spiders. I understand (and do not fault the hotel for) the gathering spiders on the outside of the windows. There were several webs and visible bugs in the corner of our window (on the outside). The part I did not like, however, was that there was also one large web IN the corner of our room by the window. I assume this web was the home of the very large spider that crawled under the bathroom door. I know bugs might be difficult to manage in such an area (by a river and a wildlife center), however, I would hope that housekeeping takes the time to clear away the large webs that might gather on the inside of the rooms. Overall this would not stop me from staying here again in the future, but I am terrified of bugs and so I am more sensitive to this issue.

Our mini-suite was pleasant, comfortable, and quiet. It’s unfortunate that the only adjacent parking is a pay lot. The only major negative of our stay, though, was that one morning the free breakfast area was overrun with traveling mock trail students, so there was no breakfast meat, the scrambled eggs were cold, the oatmeal container was nearly empty and what was left was very runny. Clearly, the person restocking the breakfast bar was scrambling but seriously in the weeds. It would be helpful to bring in an extra staff member for a few hours when you know that you have an unusually high number of checkouts expected on a particular day.

I encountered a very horrible experience with front desk manager Marissa, she provided very rude attitude toward to me when I provided my feeling about my stay at the first 2 days and she even asked me to leave the hotel with my disable son. I booked 5 nights hotel stay (prepaid) to bring my disable son and family from New York for vacation, and it was in Labor Day weekend, the handicapped accessible room usually needs to be pre-booked to have it in any hotel, we have 5 people (my husband, me and my disable son with two care takers), she asked me to check out the next day if I complain about the service in the hotel, I told her that we haven't finished our vacation in Delaware yet and we have pre-paid the hotel room, I will not leave the hotel until the day I check-out, she insisted to say that "we can check you out and we are happy to give you a refund if you complain about the service in the hotel". She also told me that I haven't paid for one room and I still owed the hotel more than more than $1200, I actually had pre-paid the hotel stay and I told her about it, I also told her that I can show her the hotel booking and my credit card statement online for payment for the hotel charge in June this year on the day before I check-out, she gave me very bad attitude again and said the she doesn't want to look at it and told me don't show it to her. Each time I have questions, she always looked at me with hostility. I feel that I have been treated as not a human being by her. Thanks to Mr. Jay Velasquez, the Executive Housekeeper to help me for the check out, and he eased my horrible feeling on the day of the check out. For how I was treated by Marissa, I would give the rating 1.

Stopped here on way to NC and very happy we did. It is in a completely renovated area consisting of a boardwalk along the riverfront, numerous other hotels, restaurants, beer gardens, breweries and ballfield. The staff was helpful, rooms clean and comfy and the daily breakfast was a bonus. Enjoy!
