Royal Grosvenor Hotel

With coach party staying for four nights, Everything about the hotel was excellent. The room, food, entertainment. Everyone very friendly. Special mention about Tina in the dining room, she was brilliant!!!.Would definitely stay there again...

Only stayed for one night room only. Had a double room 115 which was ensuite with a sea view. It was quite a small room but adequate. The ensuite was bright and spacious. The main light in room was very dim but bedside lights helped lighten the room. As we have mobility problems the stairs were a tad challenging but as only for one night we managed. The hotel was full with coach parties otherwise we would have asked for a room the side with the lift. We’ve stayed there several times before and since our last visit lots of the hotel has been refurbished. We will certainly stay there next time we want a short break in WsM. Great we were able to park there.

I had arranged to go for a few days away with my Brother and his girlfriend, this would not have been the type of hotel I would usually have chosen but I'm glad we did, I was pleasantly surprised. I arrived probably a couple of hours early and only went in the hotel to advise them of my car registration. Nicola was looking after reception and was happy to check me in. I had prebooked car parking but as the hotel was low occupancy parking wasn't an issue and there was no charge. Unfortunately due to the low occupancy there was no breakfast available, however this didn't cause me any problem as a minute walk away is a perfectly acceptable alternative, and I was given a refund which more than covered my expenditure. I had a double ensuite room with balcony and sea view all furnishings and fabrics were good quality and well maintained. There was a bar that was very handy for a first and last drink and I understand they have live entertainment at busier times of the year. All the staff I had dealings with, predominantly Nicola, were helpful and polite and I would have no hesitation recommending the Royal Grosvenor Hotel.

Smashing hotel. Excellent food, comfy rooms. Across the road from the beach. Attached to a Wetherspoons. There was a deal on drinks (any drink for £3.50) I guess to compete wit Wetherspoons.We paid extra for a sea view and private balcony. Well worth it see photo from the balcony

Very poor experience overall. Location is very good, but despite having a prime spot, the hotel itself is shockingly poor. Arrived late evening on first night, (by prior arrangement) and having checked in and was served a drink, our second room for our elderly (and disabled) mother was discovered to have not been cleaned. Our 84 year old mother then had to move to the other side of the hotel at 1am in the morning. Our room had a leaking shower cubicle and shower, which by the first morning had caused the bathroom floor to become full of water, meaning that we could not use the shower until maintenance had looked at this during our first full day. Due to reasons unknown, the hotel had closed the kitchen for the entirety of our stay for all meals, including breakfast, forcing us to seek alternative arrangements particularly for breakfast. How can a hotel not even serve breakfast!!! To make matters worse, the coffee machine in the bar area is so shockingly weak, it’s almost like warm milk………… In the evenings, the bar was closed smartly at 11, with all residents asked to vacate the area and return to their rooms. So much for having a nice drink on the terrace and enjoying the surroundings! Our last full day has now been marred by 2 separate issues. Firstly our mothers room has had no hot water all day, so no shower or ability to wash with warm water in the morning and still the same on our return at 7pm. Other residents were also reporting similar in different rooms. We were determined not to let it spoil the day, however upon return to the hotel, our designated car parking space had been taken by persons unknown, leaving us to find alternative parking arrangements at a nearby other hotel. No other spaces were available and the hotel had no record of the vehicle registration to resolve the issue. With every issue, the stock answer was “there’s nothing we can do……..” . No apology, no “have a drink on us” for the inconvenience, nothing………….. exceptionally poor customer service. Having stayed at many hotels across the UK and worldwide, of varying ratings, this is by far the worst experience in a hotel and makes Fawlty Towers look like a Michelin starred resort…….. Such a shame, because the location is extremely good, and so much could be made of the hotel. Very saddening. Strong advice to anyone thinking of staying here……. DONT!!!!!!

bar open to public, so popped in. lovely terrace to sit in the sun, parasols at tables if shade required. lovely staff. very clean. Toilets spotless and on same level. nice lively beer. entertainment afternoon weekends when i believe there is also a happy hour
