Assegaaibosch Country Lodge

We loved our stay here - great facilities and everything was in excellent condition. Esp enjoyed the table tennis and pool area. Food was excellent too - really good home cooking and super fresh. All the staff were also amazing and went the extra mile when we left something behind.

Overall experience was very good. Staff are friendly and we even got a room upgrade. The only issues we had was in the restaurant and with the resort manager (Frank). He wasn't accommodating at all. The Lamb and Bean Stew was frozen and just heated before serving. We were told by the "barman or person that was on duty in restaurant" that we wouldn't be charged for it. When we received our bill the meal was on it. We queried the bill and was just told by the resort manager he can't take it off and that is the end of it. One person spoiled the whole experience, otherwise it was great.

This is the best place in South Africa and ranks on par with the best overseas even better in many places. Best braai we have ever had. Definitely a 5 star establishment!

I was pleasantly surprised by the Lodge, unfortunately our trip was not for leisure so we didn't have the time to enjoy all the amenities. The staff was friendly and the Lodge has everything one would need whether your stay is for business or leisure. Only negative didn't like ringing the gate every time one comes in.

I recently stayed at Assegaaibosch Country Lodge for two nights and had a fantastic experience. The spotless room was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The lodge features a pool, gym, jacuzzi, and various entertainment options, all well-maintained. The property is very clean, and the cozy, serene atmosphere has a charming antique feel. With fair pricing for the quality of service and amenities, I highly recommend Assegaaibosch Country Lodge and look forward to returning in the future.

The reality is far from the pictures: so disappointing! Although the entrance was nice and the common areas ok, the rooms were far from ok: there was an incredible bad smell in 2 of the 4 rooms (no 1 in the main building and a deluxe room in a separate building) and mold on the curtains. In our bathroom (room no 14) there was hair from a previous traveler on the floor and a lot of ants were visiting our room! The beds in our room were only 140 cm ample, so it was difficult to sleep with 2 persons in 1 bed (2 beds of 140 cm for 3 persons). The water in the swimming pool was green. We also had diner one evening, but the food was so bad, we didn’t want to eat there a second evening: 5 persons had pork chops, that weren’t well prepared (raw) and were almost impossible to cut and the dessert (malva pudding) was not eatable. When I talked to the owner about the quality of the food, she was not friendly and said that that was the way they eat their pork chops. At the breakfast, the coffee machine was broken and there was not enough bread for all the guests. There was very little choice at the breakfast (e.g. only one kind of jam). Only the eggs were ok. In short: never again!!! This place place has everything to be very good, but is run in a very bad way!!!
