Let me preface this review with the following statement: I understand that COVID has placed a burden on staffing and workplace shortage. I understand things can be a bit overwhelming for a specific businesses not to function with the same level of quality and customer service. With that said, here is my story… As a person living with an immunocompromised chronic illness, I expect a certain level of cleanliness within the confines of my room. As my wife and I travel for work, we book our stay at my favorite hotel in Columbia. I have stayed at this property before, and the stay was exceptional. When I voice a concern, I hear, “ I have only been here for three weeks!” I wondered if that included any customer service/conflict resolution skills? The concern? As I am walking around my hotel room in my socks, I observe the noticeable amount of blonde-colored dog hair on my socks. Even after housekeeping came in to clean the room, another pair of black socks were covered with dog hair. I don’t own a dog, and I never have. I haven’t come into physical or visual contact with any canine since being in Columbia. Yet, my hotel room floor carpet is wholly inundated with dog hair, from the living room to the bedroom. But, when I asked to talk to the manager, nobody knew it. If the dog hair wasn’t bad enough, the mattress on our bed was uncomfortable and unbearable, yet I heard again, “I have only been here for three weeks.” When you view on Trip Advisor that this hotel has a 4.5-star rating and is listed as the 2nd best hotel out of the 12 hotels in the West Columbia area, you expect the level of excellence that got you to that point to extend to every individual that stays here. For health and sanitation reasons, I will not be staying at this hotel again for future visits to this area.
