Waipiata Motel

It was fabulous from the moment we arrived.We were welcomed by the friendly owner,Jen and she provided a scrumptious afternoon tea of warm freshly made almond meringue cookies which we were not expecting.! Our room was extremely clean,spacious and beautifully done with luxurious bedding and a handmade local woollen artwork displayed on the wall.The sleep quality was excellent and the mattress felt as if we were sleeping at home. The aspect of the motel is gorgeous,very peaceful, with the river nearby and views of a snow capped mountain range in the distance.The local pub was only a short walk away where we dined.We walked part of the great rail trail as it was winter but we will be back one summer to cycle it and to escape our winter in the UK. Finally, breakfast was splendid with homemade granola,fresh fruit compote with yoghurt,homemade preserves,crumpets and toast.What more can I add.! Sincere thanks

What a gem! So lovely and cosy and all the wee details just made it extra special. Jen is an amazing host taking care to get all our names correct on the rooms and providing a lovely breakfast before we set off on our last day of biking. Highly recommend a stay here.

We had an amazing stay for the last night of our rail trail journey. Jen welcomed us when we arrived and was very friendly as were the gorgeous ducks. The rooms have been beautifully renovated and are very comfortable with some great books to read. The setting is amazing - quiet and lovely view out the window. Afternoon tea and breakfast were delicious. Super welcoming host and very relaxing stay.
