Courtyard Virginia Beach Oceanfront/South

Right on the beach and walking distance to many shops and restaurants, hotel lobby and rooms were clean but AC in rooms doesn't work very well and a few rooms have issues with doors locking guests out of their rooms due to shifting of the security latch. Front desk staff and housekeeping staff were friendly, however one manager didn't seem to care if she offended the guests as she made comments about the house keeping "not speaking English well enough" and making comments behind their backs.

We had an outstanding stay at this property. While it is conveniently located in the middle of all the activity on the boardwalk, it was very quiet at night. The views of the balcony are wonderful. Pods of dolphins could be seen from our room. Sabrina at the FD was extremely hospitable and accommodating. We very much appreciated her upgrading us to a one bedroom suite. Despite being a Lifetime Titanium member, upgrades don't happen very often for us. I even observed Sabrina taking the time to explain the Marriott Bonvoy rewards program and sign up a customer. Hopefully, some of the mattresses and furniture in the rooms will be replaced in the low season. Overall, the hotel is in very good shape, despite the wear and tear that comes with a high-volume oceanfront location. We will definitely stay here again.

This hotel is disgusting. We walk in and the soap scum and hard water stains in the shower were gross. The windows to the balcony didn’t look like they had been cleaned in months, they still had previous guests finger prints and hand prints in the windows. The couch has visible dirt and stains all over it. If you pay 350 a night you expect a clean room at the very least. Checking my credit card statement at the end of the week and see a charge I did recognize from the hotel. I called and come to find out you have to pay to park your car in the hotel parking lot each night, this wasn’t a charge I was told about. You would think paying for the room you could park for free. Our stay here literally ruined our family vacation. I do not recommend this hotel. If I could give 0 stars I would but it’s not an option.

Good morning. My name is Jennifer Caldwell and I was a guest at your courtyard oceanfront property south in Virginia beach only for 1 night checking in on 4/20 departing 4/21/24. I wanted to say I was extremely disappointed in the cleanliness of my room. The pillow had red makeup or marker on their also the bathroom was disgusting. The fixtures were rusted which because of the condensation make the red rust drip down, the tub looked soo dirty and needs to be reglazed to eliminate the appearance grim and dirt. Their were mold spots all around the bathroom. This was not the experience I expected to walk into at my 12:40am check-In. Night Auditor during my check-in Ava was a bit agitated with me at 1st, when I needed to utilize the business area to print but her attitude changed dramatically when she found out I was apart of the Marriott Brand family and then began to be extremely helpful. As a Marriott branded Property this location did not meet the Brand Standards of the Brand. The engineering department needs to go over these rooms . My room should not have been sold in the condition it was in and my room clearly was not checked. Kindly bring these concerns to your general manager for review. Our room was very clean, pleasant and quiet!. Very comfortable with a terrific view! Even when we had a problem with cigarette smoke from another guest nearby, the staff was very professional and handled the problem the best possible way and moved us to another room. (Note: this hotel is a non-smoking facility.)

The hotel was clean and presentable. The room was clean. The A/C struggled to keep the room cool, but was successful enough at night where we were able to sleep comfortably. I have 2 issues with the room. Why on earth are hotels using double beds still. 2 kids can sleep on them fine, but 2 adults it gets pretty tight, especially if you are on the bigger side. Wasn’t an issue for us, but an observation. The other is, not enough storage. Just one small item with 2 drawers for your clothes. There is more than enough room for 2 queen beds, a sleeper sofa and a real dresser or Chest in the room. So if you are staying for more than a couple nights, be prepared to live out of suitcases. Staff was friendly and actually paid attention to you. Indoor pool looked nice, and beachfront rooms are awesome overall. Close access to the beach and a good coffee shop is just a few steps out of the front door. Cactus jacks is recommended to eat dinner just down the street a bit.

We stayed here for five nights with colleagues. We had booked a suite, which was spacious with two big beds in the bedroom and sitting area and a dining table in the living room. The kitchenette has a sink, a fridge, a microwave, a one-cup coffee maker and a few cupboards, but there were no utencils, plates or cups whatsoever. Why provide a room with a kitchen if not providing kitchenware as well? We had to go and buy some bowls to be able to make some breakfast, which is not what you expect when booking a room with a kitchen. We had to change room to a standard room due to our upstairs neighbours having such a hard party that they burst a water pipe in their bathroom, which caused water damage all the way down to the third floor. We got woken up in the middle of the night by the hotel chief engineer. At first my room mate did not want to open the door at all, the person standing outside did not have any ID on them (a hotel t-shirt is not really enough) and I too was a bit sceptic to let an unknown person into our room. (The elevators do not require a key card, so basically anyone from the street can come in and up to the floors, which is a security hazard.) The person checked our room and left, and a half an hour later, when the water started coming in through our ceiling, we got transferred to a smaller room. Reimbursement for the change was not a problem. We did not get to try the pool as it was out of order when we had planned to go there.

This is right on oceanfront and almost in center of boardwalk length, meaning very centrally located . Very easy to walk anywhere in Virginia Beach. We were placed on 11th floor in a corner suite. Very good size living room and perfect bedroom. Air conditioning was very efficient. Ocean view was out of world. You can seat in balcony and forget the world. Staff was very helping and smiling. Everything true Marriott standard.

• Other reviewers are right about the narrow parking spaces – I imagine it would be quite difficult to park during busy season. • The view is great, looking over the beach and you can see the sunrise, but the building is very old and dated. • The breakfast on the 1st floor gets to be quite expensive. After we overpaid for our breakfast on the 1st day, we walked over to V Love Coffee House next door to get our coffees and breakfast for a much more reasonable price. • The location is good with many restaurants within walking distance and it’s right on the Boardwalk.
