B Bou Hotel la Viñuela & Spa

We stayed for just one night but it was a last minute break as we only live an hour away. Not stayed here before but knew the location and due to the winter rains knew the lake would be full of water and that the views would be lovely. Not disappointed at all, the views were superb. The hotel is a perfect size with only 36 rooms or so Therefore service is great and you never ever feel anyone is rushing you or needing to get a sun bed like down on the coast It’s quiet and discreet and the quality of the rooms is great and they are spotless The food in the hotel is also superb and overall our stay we great value for money and will go back The massage by Juan was out of this world having had massages all over the world but his technique is unique and highly effective and relaxing Really recommend this hotel

B bou is a sort of rural resort. Quite remote, so when you have checked in there are few options for eating and activities outside of the grounds. At least by foot, so alternatives requires a car. It's chic and interiors a bit "bling-bling" and trying to show more than there is. But, it has to be said it is quite elegant and you feel very comfortable once you're there. The rooms are fine and nice and corresponds to the official four stars. Our standard room was small but not cramped. All amenities aboard. AC functioning. A private terrace adjoining the room. Since it's more or less away from any urban disturbances, the night was quiet and calm. Their view of a "queen size bed" is rather restricted. No problem for us, but if you need space beside your partner, it's a bit narrow. The public areas are nice and spot on a place like this with four stars. Breakfast had a surprisingly small variety of choices on the buffet part, but eggs to order (scrambled, fried, etc) compensated a bit. Two espresso/coffee machines supplied the warm drinks, but whenever one of them jammed, queues built up rather quickly. Spa facilities in a separate building adjacent to the main entrance. A large and well maintained pool a few steps away. Staff generally polite and nice. The lady in the reception was however having a cold, which she exposed by coughing loudly in front of the arriving guests. Not so nice. On the whole a typical resort of better kind, more or less worthy of its four stars.

I have been going to La Viñuela Hotel now for over 20years. We have stayed on various occasions and often just for meals with family and friends. I absolutely loved the hotels location the food and would rave to anyone who would listen about how fantastic this hotel was. If we had friends to visit it was a must that we had to take them to La Viñuela Hotel and they also loved the food and location. So when we decide to go for a weeks vacation in October 24 I was over the moon and was so looking forward to our stay. Well how disappointed was I - there was a few reasons first was our room this room had not changed in over 20years right down to the flooring and curtains which were extremely tired. There was no fridge in the room only an empty mini bar. Which barely worked also it had not been changed in over 20years. There was only a coffee machine in the room which was absolutely hopeless for hot water for tea. The cup sizes in the room and the restaurant were so small you had to go for a refill at least 4 times to get equivalent of a mug of coffee with breakfast. That brings me to the food…. Let’s start with breakfast the choice for a 4 star hotel was absolutely shocking the quality of the cooked to order food was poor… over cooked and undercooked bacon, cold bacon, cold eggs. The buffet was poor and the quantity of what was available for the amount of guests was far from what was required and there was always a wait for items being replaced. The self service coffee machines were an absolute joke and we had to constantly wait for them to be repaired. That brings me to the evening menu in the restaurant this menu has been dramatically reduced from what it was the choices are not great and I even thought if I had to have my vegetarian friends with me they would not have had a choice or variation of food. I ate in the restaurant 2 nights out of 7 neither meal I had was very good. My husband ate the same both nights due to what was available and his opinion was it was just okay. This hotel was absolutely amazing and I’m sure it can be again. The location is absolutely stunning however it is very rural and I would never go without a car to get around as there are many places to explore. Staff could be a bit more understanding as I tried to address the room and fridge situation to no avail I would have been better speaking to the wall. Staff in the restaurant could have been a bit more friendly. A very disappointed customer!!!

A beautiful hotel, rooms are exceptional and clean. The restaurant menu is made with a lot of love and pride, all freshly sourced (fish and meat) & healthy and a lot of vegetarian options. The pool & gardens are beautiful and everything is very well maintained. I recommend trying the spa, Jose and Mar are true professionals, as it adds to the whole relax experience.A special thanks to Mayca at reception, and the restaurant staff (daniel silvia and the staff who work really hard) x

The Burger with cheese and bacon with Skin-on wedges was divine! Wonderful setting on a covered terrace overlooking the lake…. Wonderful. Highly recommended. My wife had the Pili Pili prawns, which was delicious, but maybe a little too much for those with delicate palates….

My partner has family in Nerja and so we visit the area often but this was our first stay to La Vinuela, and we are so happy that we have discovered it. Everything about our stay was top class. The staff were attentive, welcoming and extremely polite. We had an outstanding evening meal which happened to coincide with my partner’s birthday and he was treated to a special dessert with a rendition of happy birthday by the pianist the location and hotel itself are quiet and tranquil so it was the perfect place for us to escape our busy lives for a mini break. Hoping to return in the summer to take more advantage of the beautiful outside areas.
