Welcome Hotel

You pay for the location which is spot on however our very expensive suite was nothing special - the shower was not working on the first night and part of the second day, which was extremely inconvenient after long journey. When I complained we were merely offered a complimentary drink with some cheese. I personally think sone money should’ve come off our bill €600 per night bill! The breakfast was mediocre - I cannot understand the good reviews - there was no fresh fruit, just a sad bowl of fruit salad (that was bought in) and even that wasn’t available on the last day because it “hadn’t been delivered”. The coffee was terrible. The breakfast staff were young girls and not very capable - dirty plates were not cleared away and we witnessed them eating several times behind the bar. There are Airbnb places further down the promenade - that’s where we’ll stay next time.

This place is just lovely! Even out of season it is busy. I moved here when my previous accommodation was intolerable and I am so glad I did. Fabulous location and views, lovely staff, and the best breakfasts and coffee in Ville Franche. I will definitely be back.

Spent a couple of nights here in September at the start of our trip to the area. My friend and I loved the hotel and the town. The front desk staff are very helpful and friendly and they were kind enough to upgrade one of our rooms to we could be next door to each other. They were also very helpful in booking us into a beach club at my request and then organizing transport across the bay without me asking; also in giving restaurant recommendations and making our booking. So helpful and much appreciated. I loved being able to make a coffee first thing and take it out onto the balcony to watch the day unfold. What a great view! The beds were comfortable and the rooms had everything we needed-no complaints here. There was a big variety on the breakfast buffet and it was so pleasant to eat it outside watching the world go by. I can't wait for June to return!

We loved the Welcome Hotel! We enjoyed the beautiful setting, having our own balcony with an amazing view right in the heart of a most charming part of the French Riviera. The hotel staff was friendly with one of the most delectable breakfasts we saw across several hotels. The room was impeccably furnished with beautiful decor, looking brand new with the best toiletries even! The care of this hotel became even more apparent, however, a day after we left when we realized that we had left four rings!! The Welcome Hotel agreed to look for them, and amazingly found all the rings and then mailed to our home address!!! Wow, what an amazing place to stay, especially with any issue that arises, I would expect only the best from the Welcome Hotel! Thank you!!

My husband and I stayed 3 nights. We had a sea view room on the 3rd floor. Beautiful view and lovely to sit on the balcony and soak it all in. Small room, but adequate. Not one of the ones which seems to have been done up, so quite dated. Room has espresso machine and pods, tea, a few complimentary chocolates and two complimentary bottles of water. Then there is a minibar which you pay for. Bathroom doesn’t have hair conditioner or body lotion so bring your own. Reception were nice and friendly. Villefranche is gorgeous, lots of nice restaurants with outside terraces along the front. Great rooftop bar across the road with great music. Lots of places in the streets of the old town - restaurants, bars, clothing shops, cafe etc. The weather was mixed, but that’s the risk you take in late Sept! Tried to go to beach club on Plage Des Marinières but water was a bit too wild (and cold). Guy who ran it also very rude. We visited Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild and its gardens - gorgeous. Also did part of the walk around Cap Ferrat (the smaller Cap). Had lunch in St Jean overlooking the marina, lovely spot. Then spent a day in Nice, did a self guided tour of the Old Town (which is wonderful). I would go back, but when sunny warm weather is more guaranteed.

Friendly, helpful staff. Rooms are small, but well maintained. We had a 5th floor room facing the bay…beautiful view. They serve a buffet-style breakfast; no dinner or lunch. Bar is complete, chips and stuff for nibbles. Overall, a well maintained facility. If in the area, would stay again.

Stayed here 10 days . Excellent location on seafront and great view from balcony.10 mins to old village Eze, Nice - close to Menton. Bedroom ok. Thin walls tho . Good espresso machine in room. Air con . Room ok but no extras after an initial small L’Occitane extra .( Didn’t need the chocolates everyday ) . Very unappealing ‘lounge’ like an old airport lounge and a dated uniform blue . Could make such a difference if updated there with plants etc and still have the nautical theme and homage to Cocteau etc . We didn’t sit in it once ! Also the bar shockingly closed before 11 ! Once even at 10.50 staff rushed off as we returned from dinner .So expect to be able to get a night cap until midnight in a 4 star. Hmm. It was a little thing we enjoy on holidays and it became a stress?! Parking is extremely expensive at the Wilson and the Citadel - we discovered on day 5 how to get it very cheaply - ie £25 for five days as opposed to 250 we had just paid for our first 5! The tourist office can help with details but you go to the local traffic office - yards away from the hotel - and get a traffic pass. The sandy beach at Marnières is a 7 min walk away, crowded in August but still lovely . Loved Villefranche-sur-Mer itself and still had a good holiday and wish the Welcome the best but this is an honest review .

This is a lovely hotel with excellent staff and balcony views over Mediterranean Sea. Close to train station and Ubers are minutes away. Can be anywhere on French Rivera in an hour or less. We stayed five nights and hated to leave. Almost all staff can speak English.

We just love this hotel! Always surprises me when there are negative comments. We have stayed in the past and came back this year with two other couples. We have always found the staff polite , helpful and accommodating. We love the connection to artists and Jean Couteau. Nothing better than sitting on our balcony in the morning watching everything wake up! I wouldn’t change a thing! We love your sweet spot here on the Cote D’Azur!
