Came to Villars for a family ski vacation during the kids’ winter break. Stayed Sunday through Saturday in February. Traveling with a family of 4 with 2 adults and 2 six year olds. Booked last minute so they didn’t have adjoining rooms but the hotel staff was accommodating and was able to get us two standard rooms next to each other on the 5th floor. Overall I would say the hotel has a good location, basic amenities and comfortable atmosphere. There can be some room for improvement to the amenities in the rooms and also some variety to the breakfast buffet. If we ever come back, we would stay at the hotel again but do hope for some improvements. More details below. Location: the location of the hotel was convenient from both the Villars and Aigle train stations. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel that you can take to the train stations and various ski stops. It is also close to its sister proper the Villars Palace which you can cut through to get to the Villars train station and the train to the top of the ski slopes. Room: The standard room was pretty standard sized for a hotel room in Europe. It has a queen sized bed or perhaps two twins put together. It felt bigger than a full but not quite as big as a queen though. There is also a desk with chair and a bench by the window. There is also a balcony with a table and chairs outside. The room was ok to sleep in but it does lack amenities. For example, there was no coffee machine or a mini fridge in the room. I think most people stay here for a few days or longer so it would have been nice to have a fridge to store something. Also you get two bottles of water at the beginning of your stay, but there were not replenished daily. It would have been nice to have bottled water daily. The room also lacks overhead lighting as it does get quite dark at night. There are only a hallway light, a small desk light and two bedside lights that weren’t too bright or broad ranged. Breakfast: Daily breakfast included in our room rate. It is buffet style. There was a hot food section with 6 things- scrambled eggs, bacon, baked beans, mushrooms, chicken sausage and veal sausage. There was cold food section with a few different kinds of cheeses and cold cuts and smoked salmon. There was also a section with plain yogurt, muesli, apple sauce, fruit salad, canned peaches and pears. They also have cereals, croissants, chocolate croissants, two kinds of muffins. They do have all different kinds of milks- oat, almond, soy and regular. Two coffee machines making espresso, cappuccino etc. They also had three different kind of juices. The only complaint was that we wished they had some variety each day as everyone was the same for the entire week we stayed there. The only thing different was half way through the week they changed one of the juices from orange to apple. Service: To the point, not overly over the top, sometimes slow moving.

A budget-friendly hotel for a short ski week-end. Simple but correct rooms, spacious and newly renovated, very calm and centrally located. Great breakfast with many options, I have loved their fluffy butter croissants. Many thanks to Oriana for a charming and guest-oriented service!

Beautiful property and excellent staff. Cecilio was especially outstanding. The location to the village is great and it was nice to have access to the Villar Palace space and gym. Highly recommend - Matt G.

Having previously stayed in chalets for our family ski holidays (our son is now 9) we felt a hotel would fit our needs better for our 5 night stay. I found this hotel on the internet, booked direcetly as it offered the best price. We did our own transfers from Geneva airport using the train, then changing to the tram in Bex, the hotel did point out before arrival that the train to Aigle then the bus was slightly quicker, but we prefered the tram option. This was all easy to book on line with the swiss train network and is much more cost effective than a car/taxi transfer. Our was around £150 return for the 3 of us. We also booked our ski pass, ski hire and our sons ski lessons directly on line, the hotel did offer on our arrival but I'm sure it would have been at a premium. On arriving at 2pm our room wasn't quite ready, as check in was from 3pm. But this did give us opportunity to collect our ski passes from one of the automated machines using the QR code, and collect our hired skis from the shop next to the hotel 'Sports House' who were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has ski lockers for your boots and skis Once checked in we took our suitcases to our room, (there wasn't an offer of any help) having been up since 3am and clearly looking tired! Our room was a superior double (single beds pushed together) and a camp type bed for our 9 year old son. I had read that some found the hotel noisy, our room was on the -0 level just 1 storey high, so nobody above and hardly and passing people so it was perfect and quiet, other than party goers coming home at 2 am most mornings (not the hotels fault) The room was beautiful, spacious and clean. Strangley in the lobby/wardrobe area it had a fabulous tiny kitchen with a microwave, full sized undercounter fridge, hob and sink. There was 4 plates, bowls and cutlery but no kettle or pans. We used the fridge to cool the water etc. I would be lovely if they included a kettle, but I guess they want the spend in the hotel not people making tea and coffee in the room. Breakfast was delicous, and a good choice of hot/cold. The ski lift was a short bus ride away, the bus stop just outside the hotel, so easy to get to the lifts. We ate out at local resturants all but 1 evening when we ate at Peppino's, the pizza was very nice indeed. We had hot chocolates in the hotel bar on two occasions, and got overcharged on both occasions, until I pointed out the error. We used the swimming pool 3 times, it was lovely to swim after a day on the slopes, the hotel provided dressing gowns and towels. Our room was cleaned each day by the time we got back in from skiing, we did end up with a huge amount of towels, they left clean but never took used away! The hotel loaction for the village is excellent, a few minutes walk to the local resturants and the co-op. I really enjoyed my week here. The room was huge and my view from the third floor was beautiful of the main Villars town below and the mountains beyond. The focus is on sustainability so the rooms don't have a bunch of disposable amenities, which is great. The room had a pretty large private balcony with seating so it was nice to be able to spend time outside when you got to your room for the evening. WiFi was fast, rooms were cleaned first thing in the mornings, and you have to request/note for new towels and sheets (that's the sustainability part) but service was awesome, super friendly and available. I am not sure if there's a pool, was too busy to look but would make this spot complete. This is really a great value for location, amenities and comfort!!
