Pousada Vila Real Santo Antonio

Lovely hotel right on the main square in pretty Vila Real de Santo Antonio. Delightful service from Vanessa, clean and comfortable room for a very good price (we were ground floor but I’d probably ask for higher floor next time), and scrumptious breakfast that can also serve as lunch and dinner!! Two pools which were a little too cool for us to try in November, but would be lovely in summer heat. Gorgeous outdoor terrace overlooking the church and square.

Really enjoyed our stay -staff and accommodation very good. I am a Pestana account holder but despite numerous requests to the hotel directly and to Pestana group directly no one ever answers or sorts out my query! Pestana is my hotel of choice for regular visits to Algarve and trips to Madeira, Lisbon. But sadly as they won’t update my loyalty points I’m booking elsewhere for my next visit in March to Alvor and to NYC as a one off trip in May 2025.

Lovely little hotel in a nice square in the town, with plenty of small bars and restaurants nearby, and close to a nice walk way by the river. Plenty of free, as well as paid, parking around.( probably not in high season) Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Our room was a bit dark but comfortable and quiet. We had a birthday there and they kindly left us a little cake. Because it was November a lot of restaurants in the area were closed for annual holidays, and we ended up eating in the hotel, which is not something we would normally do, but the food was really nice and the service was excellent. I would absolutely recommend this hotel.

From the moment we walked through the door the staff in this lovely wee hotel made us feel very welcome. Every member of staff we came across was courteous, friendly, helpful and above all professional. We stayed in a superior room with big balcony and sunbeds. The bed was super comfy and shower great. Breakfast was excellent with a good selection of hot and cold items. There's also a roof top plunge pool with lovely views.

I relocated to Portugal a few years ago and I have been wanting to stay in a Pousada and haven't had the opportunity. Pousada Vila Real Santo de Antonio was my first and it will probably always be my favorite. This little gem on the Portuguese/Spanish border is outstanding. It's beautifully appointed, but not pretentious. It's comfortable, charming, and located in a beautiful square. The restaurant serves a delightful breakfast. A pizza oven makes it possible to relax al fresco out on the square in the evening and enjoy an amazing pizza -- along with other excellent meu choices. The mattresses and room comfort will ensure a good night's sleep and two swimming pools for sunbathing and a refreshing dip are perfectly situated at the hotel. I've visited twice and I plan to return often.

Wanted to stay in the heart of Vila Real to experience the charm of the town. Booked the Pousada as its in the centre set in the lovely square. The staff were great from start to finish friendly and very helpful throughout our stay for the whole week. Food was very good including the breakfast which you can have overlooking the square. Would highly recommend this place and look forward to our return.
