Stay Open Venice Beach

This review will not do the place justice!! Amazing place right on the beach. Great set up with lots of space, lounging areas, balcony overlooking the beach, and communal kitchen (if required), also has a couple of bicycles free for quests to use. Ultra clean and so chilled. The team were great - friendly and helpful. The pods are well self contained with lighting, power-points and fan if needed. If I make it to Venice again I will be sure to stay here - thanks Stay Open team.

I mainly chose this place as I was getting into LAX late and this was one of the cheapest options nearby. I'm so glad I picked it! They've done a fantastic job building this out, big open common spaces, amenities, plenty of bathrooms and hangout areas, good touches on design and decoration. The rooftop access is great for sunsets, and the management was super helpful and available. And i found the pods extremely comfortable and private. I'd had a glitch in my pod that caused one of the interior lights to come on in the middle of the night, I managed with a shirt over my eyes but next day without prompting i was informed that they were refunding my night's stay!! Wasn't necessary but wow, what an amazing thing to do, shows great intention to do right by their guests. I'll definitely be staying here next time I visit!

My experience at Stay Open was excellent! The location is perfect, right in front of Venice beach. I enjoyed watching the sunset from the rooftop and early morning runs! Facilities are amazing and the pods super comfortable. There's also plenty of space around the house to work from your laptop so it's perfect for digital nomads. Staff was very welcoming, and made me feel at home from the first moment! Will come back for sure!

What an incredible place, the Stay Open team know exactly what's going on and are miles ahead of the alternatives in the area. The place is beautifully decorated, clean and spacious, like home away from home. Location wise, it's quite literally on the beach and you can see the palm trees from the front pods! Excellent amenities for both working or vacation, plus all the staff (Jelena, Andy and many others) are always willing to go out their way for you. Very pleased I found this place!

*WARNING* *WARNING* I am currently in legal proceedings due to a serious misconduct event against the Operations Manager (David Draffin) at this hotel. I was subjected to harassment and threatening behavior by the Operations Manager which validated a 911 police call by myself. After traveling for 10 years, I never had such a hostile encounter with completely ignorant behavior. Be warned, the management of this business is completely toxic

Avoid if you want any kind of fun! Like a prison. The place was nice but the Australian guy running this is horrible. He kicked me out of the hostel during my stay for half made up reasons (never saw any written evidence) I'm sure due to his personal insecurities/mental issues which he told me he had and was taking mushrooms for; said I was following other guests around the place making them feel uncomfortable when I definitely did not, spoke to me like I was a child, then wants me to break health and safety regulations to store my 23kg bag above head height to make it look slightly nicer for a new guest and when I declined he argued with me in front of others and I had to suggest we have a chat after he's done afterwards as I didn't want to impact anyone else's stay. Then he kicked me out. If you want any sort of a social life, do not visit!!!! Quiet time is strictly enforced where even before 10pm he will come and tell you to stop having any fun including playing music at a low volume as he want's to sleep at 9pm in the basement downstairs. I am not a party animal and made minimal noise when coming in at night and went out with some of the guests for dinner and drinks multiple times (made friends with them, who were also shocked when he kicked me out). If you want a place to work remote and you sleep early each night, it's a nice place to be. BUT if you want a normal hostel environment that's more friendly and planned group things to do in a better location go for "HI Los Angeles Santa Monica Hostel". It was the same as a European hostel with friendly vibes, cheaper and better location. Also, a girl that was staying there told me that they tried to take money from her for a late checkout when she left on time so be careful if you book this!
