Hotel la Casa del Califa

A great welcome and tremendous service. Food great, guys running bar magic. Quirky old town. We were provided with map. Room very different but great, comfortable and unique. I think we went at the right time of year, not too busy and warm enough. Only drawback we could not stay longer.

A wonderfully quirky boutique hotel with North African themed decorations and a sumptuous restaurant. It’s staff are friendly and welcoming, the vistas from the balconies and bar terrace on the roof are majestic. Plonked on the heart of this beautiful ancient hilltop village, it’s a winner for me

This is a great place, centrally placed on the Plaza de Epsana yet quiet and peaceful. The apartment we stayed in - Las Palomas - was enormous with a lovely room, living room, kitchen and bathroom as well as a huge roof terrace that overlooked the Plaza. There were breathtaking views across to the East which really came into their own at dawn, as the sun slowly appeared. There was also access to a secluded swimming pool. The restaurant is located at the back of the hotel and offers a wonderful menu of Spanish and North African food and very reasonable cost. The service was wonderful, making you feel very special and appreciated. Breakfast was also included and - thankfully - did not involve a buffet. This occasionally resulted in a wait for food but it was always worth it. There are a lot of steps in this hotel but that's only to be expected as it's built into the side of a hill, like everything else in Vejer. If there was a complaint, it was that the AC was not very effective in the bedroom and sleeping was quite a challenge with the heat, despite the efforts of a large fan. At other times of the year, this would not be a problem. I would definitely stay here again - not that inexpensive but real value in terms of what you get. Highly recommended.
