Daios Cove

One of my favourite holidays. I was on the BXR fitness retreat at Daios Cove. Firstly the training was first class and the facilities were the best I've seen and used abroad. The food was all specially selected for the fitness group and the staff treated us all really well for the duration of the stay. The hotel itself has everything you'd need, multiple pools, restaurants and a private beach. The spa is definitely worth a visit. Hopefully I'll be able to go back one day.

We have just returned from a fabulous 6 days. Arriving late on Friday, a quick check-in and then a buggy up to room 750. Was given an upgrade to a Seaview suite, large and spacious, huge comfy bed. Our original booking was on the full board basis, but we upgraded to all inclusive. All drinks are premium brands. The food was great, the breakfast and buffet in Pangea had great choices and was plentiful. Huge thanks to Yiannis, looked after us so well. Now we had been worried about the sunbed situation but it was fine. The pool guys are great, you look after them, they will look after you. There are loads of sunbeds down on the Beach, the water is crystal clear and slightly warmer than the pools. The evenings were fairly quiet but we didn't mind that. We would pop down to the Beach house for drink as the sun goes down, the guys there are great. Big shout to Alex, so welcoming and always time to say hi. The Ocean bar is where we would end up at the end of the day, very chilled. Andreas was great, so knowledgeable when it came to cocktails, a couple of mornings with a sore head. We did visit Agios Nikolaos, stunning town. Overall we would highly recommend this beautiful resort, the staff, the service is exceptional.

Where to start. This was our second visit, and the first hotel we have ever revisited. We were quite nervous as we were worried about it living up to the amazing expectations and memory we had from being there two years previously. We had absolutely NOTHING to worry about at all. The staff, the food, the drink and the amazing standards of cleanliness and little touches were all still there. Truly fantastic. When you go to Daios, we compare it to like entering a luxury bond layer cocoon. We needed a week away to relax and not have to think about anything. And that was exactly what we got, it was bliss. One point for feedback and by in no way a criticism. We stayed in a hotel in Mexico where you had a room diffuser scent menu, pillow menu and a choice of cocktails in your room to drink whilst getting ready to before going to dinner for the evening. Our turn down service was about 6pm which felt a little early, particularly as it was still light outside and the curtains were drawn. The bar staff, Andreas, George and Alexis at pool bar were and are all brilliant, talented and interesting to chat too. All of the staff in ocean restaurant were attentive and friendly. Our favourite food was at taverna - since the refurb it is a wonderfully chilled vibe and we really felt the difference from last time. So, we stayed at Daios Cove for 12 days and it was absolutely fantastic. We have traveled extensively all over the world for the last 30 years and we know a good hotel when we come across one. All of the staff were very, very nice and good at their jobs from our waiter in the morning in the adults' breakfast area to the boys who drove us to our room in the golf carts. The food was some of the best I have had in Europe and Greece. The beach is superb at the resort and Jewel beach my favorite beach on Crete is only 6 min away by car. The sauna and the pool spa were really worth it and wonderful. The resort is steep, so you do get your steps in, we were the only Americans there the clientele is mostly German and British due to the location. The architecture is superb throughout the hotel and the villas. I highly suggest the residents club if you like to eat and drink. One think that is strange as America is the Europeans take very young children on holiday with them so there were way too many children for my liking. But that is no reflection on the hotel or their friendly professional staff. Just a cultural difference. The front desk did tell me they are building an adult only hotel very soon. It really felt like home after a while, and I would recommend it to anyone going to Crete. The staff is impeccable and well trained. They kept my champagne stocked and the room perfectly clean. Americans need to be aware in Greece that the check for a meal doesn't come till you ask for it. I just want to thank all the staff in room service at the spa and the front desk and the chamber maids. But I want to give a special shout out to Alexos our waiter in the adults' area in Pangea in the morning he was so sweet and so kind and always had my mimosas waiting for me when I came back with my food.

Beautiful hotel and location. Fab and helpful staff. Rooms and facilities are excellent. Love chilling at the beach bar! Great restaurants, especially the taverna and beach restaurant. Would recommend a stay, it's our second visit and we will be returning again.

The exceptional 5-star resort provides an amazing dining experience and a variety of daily activities. It caters to all people and is family-friendly. The customer service is outstanding, and the rooms are stylish and spacious. We had a fantastic time and plan to return soon.
