Dormtales Hostel

I recently stayed at Dormtales and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. First off, the check-in process was a nightmare. Arriving at 8 PM, I found the reception closed and no staff in sight. After searching for 20 minutes and knocking on every door, someone finally appeared. She took my payment and quickly showed me to my bed without providing any information about hostel rules, checkout times, or even the cafe's operating hours. It felt very rushed and unwelcoming. Once I settled in, I noticed the complete lack of hostel vibes or culture. The host was rarely seen socializing or even creating a friendly atmosphere. Another frustrating aspect was the kitchen policy. When I asked for help in getting hot water for medicinal use, I was informed that the kitchen was strictly for the cafe and that guests were not allowed to use it at all. This felt very unaccommodating, especially considering the situation. The final straw was when I was abruptly woken up at 11 AM and told I had to pay an extra ₹200 for late checkout. No one had informed me of this policy during check-in; instead, I was told that if I checked out after 12 PM, I would be charged for an entire additional day. This lack of communication added to the overall negative experience. Dormtales failed to provide the hospitality and community atmosphere expected from a hostel. I would not recommend you staying here if you're a backpacker or a traveller.
