As first hotel in Cuba we stay expected much more from this place. We got upgraded of our room for additional fee when arrive and this bungalow air conditioner was blowing hot air, water was just such low presser in shower that can’t even wash out sand, no hot water at all, we asked to fix it every day but without any result. Food was fresh and not bad, no so many entertainment choice, just billiard room , karaoke , piano live music at lobby was great. Some staff was rude , but some very pleasant to communicate. Have different feeling about staying Starfish , not comfortable hot room with cold water and friendly people who try their best in service.

We were travelling around Cuba and decided to spend our last 2 days relaxing in a resort . After travelling for 8 hours , as soon as we arrived at the hotel, we realized that our reservation was cancelled hours before the check in.
The front desk was not helpful and refused to provide the wifi so we could connect with trip.com.
After a long stress, they offered us the wifi and trip.com was contacted and the issue “ solved”.
The check in is at 4pm, not 2pm as mentioned on the description.
The room was not well maintained with stains all over and very uncomfortable bed.
The facilities such as restaurants, pool , were “ok”.
Food was bad unfortunately and we did not enjoy , specially the breakfast.
We had also short of bread and water during our stay( we cannot blame the hotel for that”
The drinks were fine, not many options and staff only seems happy upon tipping.
The only positive thing was the beach! Amazing!
As much as we understand the Cuban economy and all how it affect the hotel, we were expecting something much better.
If you want to have a real Cuban experience, stay with the casas and not at resorts!

Despite being booked, the hotel was full and Trip sent us to another hotel, apparently smaller and older, frustrating our expectations.

Goods: the BEACH. the hotel’s location (near also to a dolphins pool that has a show and offers to swim with them). Experienced staff is generally friendly and attentive. The swimming pools are pretty new and in good shape. Rooms are spacious. Food at buffet is varied for Cuban standards. They have aquatic ballet show, live rock band and beach party depending on day & schedule. Beer and rum are authentic.
To improve: room and some hallway furniture need repair or changing. Bathroom/bathtub needs anti slippery rug. The bathtub is useless as it is not tapped. Bath towels are too small. Swimming pools and their bars close at 6 pm. Swimming pools lack shade during the day. Few seafood and salad options at buffet. Drinks are served in disposable small cups.

Food in Cuba overall is poor many shortages, Starfish’s no exception
Bring own snacks and condiments
Best food at Cabana bar
Drinks plentiful but cocktails are limited
Staff exceptional please treat all with praise and respect and tip generously
They are exceptional people who take care of you like family ❤️

We enjoyed our time at Starfish. The staff were wonderful and helpful. Piano players ( and kitty) in the lobby were excellent. The rooms were clean.
The food was fine - local food that was in season. There was a great local rock blues band that played at the outside court. Excellent beach. Would stay again.

Atendentes no check in impacientes, pouco simpáticas, ao serem demandadas por algum problema, Toalhas de banho manchadas, problema sem solução durante os 8 dias em que lá estive. Alegam que não têm toalhas de banho sem manchas. Banheira em mal estado de conservação, cortina da banheira encardida. Problemas com a fechadura do departamento comunicada ao hotel por voltadas 13 h do segundo dia hospedar em (não abria) não solucionado, levando o hóspede a ficar da 18h às 0h buscando a solução na portaria, tendo que se deslocar várias vezes pelo hotel para tratar do problema, solucionado apenas no dia seguinte. Alimentação e bebidas não álcoólicas simples, de qualidade regular servida no café da manhã, almoço e jantar. Alimentação.mais sofisticada de boa qualidade no jantar, nos dois restaurantes que atendem por reserva. Falta de informações ao turista sobre as opções de uso de transporte público na região de Varadero (BusTur). Atendentes priorizam indicar o uso de táxi para os turistas.
