Blanq Carmen Hotel

Only picked this hotel as it was where our family had chosen. We chose a room with a view, if you can call staring at a busy road and trees a view. I did not get to sleep until 04.00 , which was after an 05.00 wake up in England to start our journey, not what I needed, and then woken at 06.30. It is very noisy. The breakfast was a reasonable offering and considering what we had at our next 2 hotels was pretty good. Considering I pad for the most expensive room I think it was poor value for money.

If you're looking for a peaceful stay at night, this hotel is not the right choice as it's very noisy, and you can hear every little thing. The pool hardly qualifies as such, but the staff were exceptionally helpful. Overall, it's an okay option for a few nights in Valencia.

Hotel was fab, staff were lovely and nothing was ever an issue. They helped us book tours around valencia and were always very friendly. The downsides of our stay would have to be the breakfast - we didn’t include this in our package but chose to add it on in the morning, it included a lot of sweet things such as brownies and a few croissants. The only available hot food was eggs and beans, so I would recommend eating out for breakfast, there are some lovely hidden gems around the hotel. The rooms were lovely and big, always very clean. There were a few design flaws such as the wardrobe only being able to open a tiny bit on each side and the bathroom light being at the far end of the bathroom. Overall rooms were amazing, I wouldn’t pay extra for a terrace view as it is just an alley with a frosted window that opens an inch. Perfect location and overall a wonderful experience.

We went to the rooftop bar for a drink. It's a great space just across the Turia gardens and near the Torres del Serrans. There are both tables and sofas, shaded and in the sun which is great as you can choose a spot as per your preference. The service was friendly. What was disappointing is that the cocktails were poorly mixed (especially as they were priced as in drinks in a cocktail bar). We ordered nachos which was also not great as it had cheap orange synthetic cheese and oxidised guacamole. It's something that would be okay in a dive bar I guess, but given the price, I would have expected a bit more of an effort. I would suggest if you went there to stick to beer/wine and olives as terrace is still nice and the service was fine.

Be warned... it's a very noisy hotel! Indeed, as written in many reviews on this hotel: this hotel has a noise problem. It's an old hotel, at a busy street and there is an air circulation system installed in the inner courtyard of the hotel. The noise of this system resonates into the rooms of the inner courtyard. In addition, you hear other people speaking and walking in the next room, you hear people walking and talking in the staircase, there is noise on the streets (hotel is located at on one side at a busy road and on the other side at a restaurant). Be warned, it's noisy, the hotel has no isolation (windows, walls, floors) and is basically an old building with has been brushed up a bit (to try to make it look nice at first sight) but no money has been spent on isolation or quality finishing. I raised the noise of the air circulation system at the reception. During my first visit the lady at the reception pretended not to know what I was talking about. My second visit at the reception resulted in the following answer "we will do something about it" (so they were indeed familiar with the problem). My last visit to the reception resulted in checking out, requesting my money back and booking another hotel, as the noise was still there. Be warned... it's noisy! What I also found strange is that I had to sign the General Terms & Conditions of the hotel. Been to many hotels but never have signed any General Terms & Conditions at the reception. Update on the reaction of the hotel: Therefore, this review doesn't identify us, as you have not stayed at our establishment. My response: It does identify Blanq Carmen Hotel, it's the reason I left and booked an other hotel in Valencia. I would otherwise have stayed in your hotel no? I'm not the only one experiencing the noise in your hotel, many more write it in their review.

We had a lovely two night stay in the hotel: the reception staff were extremely courteous and very helpful. We opted for the breakfast which was fabulous and well worth the 9€ as it was a combination of coffee ( served to table) and buffet style continental and hot scrambled eggs with bacon. Excellent location for visiting the old town, the cathedral and the fabulous market - we’d recommend
