Just beside the River Thames, The Trout at Tadpole Bridge enjoys an beautiful location between Oxford and the Cotswolds. Less than 3 miles from the village of Bampton, this award-winning 17th-century inn provides luxurious rooms and high-quality dining recommended by, among others, the Good Food Guide.
Each guest room has been individually designed and includes a flat-screen TV with tea and coffee facilities. All have an private bathroom with a bath or shower, where toiletries are supplied.
An extensive breakfast menu includes Cereals, fruits & pastries, and a menu with hot breakfast choices including a Full English Breakfast. There is also fruit juice and a selection of coffees and teas.

The welcome for Bertie the Old English Sheepdog and me was warm, friendly and helpful. The food was excellent, the room was cosy with great facilities, and it was great to have access to a pretty courtyard and gardens directly from the room, including the lawn running down to the river with a great view of the sweet Tadpole Bridge.

Lovely lunch in comfortable and relaxing surroundings. A fab start to our short break. Was a bit late as travelled from a distance away and got held up in Swindon but no problem to hosts. Plenty of choice on the menu and reasonable cost. Would be even nicer in the Spring or Summer!

Beautiful country inn in a great location on the edge of the Cotswolds. Rooms were very comfortable, food and wine superb and we were well looked after by our hosts and their staff. A lovely way to celebrate our daughter’s 40th birthday!

Really pleasant evening under the teepee tent at the Trout. Great food and service. Can highly recommend the oriental steak noodle salad special and the salted honey ice cream. Many thanks to our waitress Han for doing a great job, and entertaining us with her amazing memory.

We chose The Trout from the Butcombe website for a night away, having enjoyed a stay in another Butcombe Inn before, and we were certainly not disappointed! The whole experience was excellent, from start to finish - a beautifully furnished, comfortable room, a welcoming relaxing bar and restaurant and, of course, great food and drink. Thanks must go to Hannah and her staff for both our welcome and the quality of service we received throughout our stay - from arrival to breakfast/departure. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly and The Trout is a credit to Hannah and her team. We'll definitely aim to visit again and can highly recommend The Trout!

What a fabulous pub! We had passed a few times but this was our first visit and we loved it. The food was excellent and lovely service, too. I had crayfish and prawns on a crumpet and it was excellent - best ever and beautifully presented. My husband had BLT and, again, quality ingredients and first class fries. We will certainly be back and I highly recommend.

We were having a short holiday in Burford and by chance drove past the Trout so decided to see if they could fit us in for a Sunday lunch. Thankfully they could, the service was good and we had a very nice roast lunch with all the trimmings. The trout is situated on the side of the river with a large beer garden which would have been our choice if the weather had been a bit warmer.

We had such a lovely evening. There was a very warm welcome as we arrived and were taken through to the dining room. The food was excellent, a good amount of choice . We had a perfectly cooked steak and interesting salad accompaniments. We were served by Luke who looked after us really well. Somewhere we will want to return to.

Excellent in every respect, beautiful site next to the river, clean, well-maintained and comfortable rooms, friendly, welcoming and very helpful staff and good tasty food from a menu with a good selection of dishes. Look forward to returning in the not too distant future
