Amet Haveli - A Heritage Hotel Udaipur

Amazing hotel, lovely experience. The views around the Lake, the room, the food were outstanding. The staff were courteous and efficient and the ambiance gave out a positive impression. I would definitely stay at the hotel again. Thank you

The hotel was situated in the old city at the end of a busy street and accessible only via Tuk-Tuk. It is a beautiful heritage hotel but undergoing some building work. We were taken to our hotel room and were blown away with the view of Lake Pichola. The room was spacious and clean. Food in the lake side restaurant was very good and we had a extensive selection of food to choose from for both breakfast and evening meal. Staff were helpful but didn't feel that they went over and beyond for us. My request for non-dairy milk suddenly became available only after our tour operator intervened.

I had a highly disappointing stay at Amet Haveli with my family, and I feel compelled to share my experience to warn others. 1. Dining Experience at Ambrai Restaurant: We dined at Ambrai, and my wife ended up with food poisoning. This is unacceptable, especially at a restaurant of this reputation. 2. Unhygienic Room Service: We requested warm milk for our kids, but the kettle it was served in was filthy, with leftover tea leaves inside. This shows a complete lack of basic hygiene standards. 3. Breakfast Disaster: At breakfast, we were served tea cake with visible fungus on it. This was shocking and extremely concerning for the health and safety of guests. 4. Unapologetic Attitude: What made the experience worse was the staff’s unapologetic and indifferent attitude. Despite all these issues, they even charged us for the milk that our kids couldn’t consume due to its unhygienic condition. This was by far the worst hospitality experience I’ve ever had. I would not recommend Amet Haveli to anyone. They seriously need to rethink their standards of service and cleanliness.

The Amet Haveli is a truly special hotel in a truly special location, built on a small area of land that projects into Lake Pichola. The views from its charming lakeside restaurant are exceptional: looking east to the City Palace and buildings of the old city; south to the majestic Taj Lake Palace Hotel and the atmospheric Ambrai ghat. The food here is also very good - and well-priced for such a up-market hotel. It is a beautiful heritage building, with the charm of classic C18 architecture and the convenience and style of a well-maintained and loved C21 hotel. The rooms are spotless and beautifully furnished and decorated. The staff are courteous and thoughtful; Alvin was an exemplary manager, checking to see we were well looked after; Nitin in the restaurant ensured that our breakfast and dinner services were smooth and efficient. Both were part of a professional team that make a stay at this hotel so memorable. A special mention for the excellent hotel boat trip; a sunset voyage around the lake also ensured that our time in Udaipur, staying at the Amet Haveli, holds a very special place in our hearts of our time in Rajasthan.

Wonderful situation enhanced by the tuk tuk ride through some of the old time to reach it as cars can't It is position on the lakeside overlooking the palace and Lake hotel. We had dinner and breakfast on the terrace with great views. Sunset form the roof top was lovely Service was very comprehensive and efficient

We are about to leave after a two night stay. We are generally happy yet agree this hotel is not of the same standard as others we have stayed in over the past two week holiday in Rajasthan. Staff are all very good and keen to assist ( for a tip). The room is generally clean but for the collection of past guests hairs in the Velcro of the bed duvet🤮 Unlike every other hotel we have used on this trip in this one the mini bar in the room is empty, drinking water mostly in recycled jars, no bath robes or face cloths. The bed is comfortable and we have superb views over the lake, very impressive at night with all the lights opposite. Restaurant evening meals are good and reasonably priced. Breakfast is lacking in several ways, only instant coffee for instance.
