Selina Tulum

Muy buen hostel. El mejor Selina al Que fui hasta ahora sin dudas, y con muy buena atención

It is only the third day of 14 for us but we have no other option than to write this review now. We were also at Selina last year and it was highly recommended, which is why we chose to stay here again. However, Selina has separated from Mia Restaurant & Beach Club, which has led to big & bad changes. The first two days were normal but we noticed that the service and quality had gone down, which is understandable. Today we went to breakfast and suddenly we were supposed to pay extra for almond milk and the portions were half the size. From the yogurt to the muesli to the fruit and the fried egg or omelette, everything was halved. I then went to reception and was told that the staff themselves did not accept it but that this decision had been communicated by management. As compensation we were supposed to receive an "extra portion", whereupon we were given a small bowl of scrambled eggs without anything on it for three portions. This is not a criticism of the service, it is really great but this change from one day to the next is unacceptable. If I had known this before booking, I definitely would not have chosen the Selina again. Unfortunately I can no longer recommend it.

I loved my time at Selina in mid August. The location is incredible, and being low season it at times feels like you have the place all to yourself. The daily activities were great to disconnect and relax into the vibe of Tulum, and a good way to meet people as a solo traveller. The staff were very attentive and kind, and fixed an issue with the room door immediately on arrival. I also organised a tour and bike rental through the hotel which were awesome experiences. The only thing I struggled with during my stay was how hard it could be to find information about external activities (opening hours and prices for the Tulum ruins, how much taxis and colectivos should be charging, etc.) and I got differing answers from the staff on these questions. Also there’s a bunch of super sweet animals on the property too, and the chance to see turtles on the beach!

It was horrible. So expensive for no reason. I booked a private room. As soon as I opened the door there was such a strong smell of dump. The bed sheets felt wet all the time. I could barely move inside of the room. The keys were never working and they always charge you for the keys even if you return them. And the cherry on top of the cake, the guys working at the reception were so rude and unhelpful. Better stay in the city with way better airbnb and way cheaper.

For our first time in Mexico, we stayed at Selina in an oceanfront room for a whole week and the view and location was absolutely 10/10! For the price we paid, the beach front access was perfect, and the location was central to everything. Loved it! We felt so incredibly safe and couldn't have picked a better hotel. Since this is a hotel/hostel it was similar to a time share type of stay, but we enjoyed having the private space and the workout classes were awesome! So happy we chose to stay here versus an all-inclusive. Exploring along the jungle beach road was awesome-we walked everywhere!

Amazing hostel surrounded by nature. The vibe with the beach and the music was something else! Sleeping with the sound of the waves, going for a beach walk and making new friends were some of the things I will take with me! I really recommend this place, not only for vacations but for remote working too, it has a nice coworking space!
