The hotel's strapline is Grenada's best kept secret, and I think it probably is. Why? Because we had the place to ourselves and enjoyed exclusive use of the excellent facilities. The stunningly beautiful Dr Groom's beach was also empty, except for a few locals at the weekend. Where else could you find this degree of exclusivity and tranquility? The rooms were huge with a full kitchen, breakfast bar, sofa and TV as well as comfortable large beds. The place is a but rustic and could do with a bit of a refit, but it was clean and everything worked with excellent water pressure, good WIFI, plentiful hot water and effective aircon. The only downside was that the hotel's bar and restaurant were closed except for breakfast, but the Old Skool pub is opposite, so this is no hardship. We had some amazing barbecued lobster there as well as a number of burger type meals. We also enjoyed the Monkey Bar (open Fri to Sun only) and got some great local food delivered from a local take away place called Bamboo Nest. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an away from it all, non-touristy location who wants great facilities without costing the earth. Car hire is a bonus to get to the supermarket in Grand Anse, but we managed the trip just as well using the local buses.
