West River House

This hotel was half the price of other hotels and The photos online made the room look cute. The room was on the third floor and there was a very steep climb. I knew that the room would be small but, the room was very small with sloping ceilings. I hit my head getting out of bed and on the ceiling. Im 6ft tall. The bed platform is about 4in off the floor, old mattress, not very comfortable. Basically you have to sweat out of bed, onto your knees and not hit your head on the ceiling. The place is carpeted in what look like carpet samples from the 80’s. I have stayed at hotels with shared bathrooms and I have no problem with that. The problem was I was on the third floor and the bathroom was on the second floor. Getting up in the middle of the night and climbing down a flight of stairs has no fun. I was on a motorcycle and parking is practically nonexistent. Basically. They tell you to find parking were you can.

West River House was a pleasant surprise. It has a hostel vibe. The room was clean and the bed / pillows are very comfortable. We were most impressed with the detailed instructions for everything including parking, shower use, check in and checkout. We enjoyed the balcony as well. The location was great for us as we came to ride bikes and enjoy Truckee Thursday.
