We stayed here for one night coming back from an extended family vacation where we stayed at Hilton properties (majority Home 2’s) for the 9 nights previous - so given that, I can tell you - this was the worst one we’ve stayed at by comparison. It was interesting that the breakfast only goes until 9, whereas the other properties went until 10. The room itself was ok but be prepared if your room is on the same side as the highway and if you’re a light sleeper - it’s fairly noisy. Now this is more of a commentary on the Hilton Honours program than this particular hotel but I will include this in my review because this is where this happened. We are also going to verify this with Hilton directly to ensure this is indeed a company policy and not just a decision made at this location. We had pre booked our stay - we realized on our way that we would prefer a one bedroom suite so we decided to ask to see an upgrade is available and we would pay the difference. I double checked online and it appeared to be tons of rooms available - and we didn’t arrive until close to 8 pm that night, so we felt that if there were rooms still available for that night, we hoped it wouldn’t be an issue. When we arrived, we asked if modifying our reservation to a one bedroom was available - we were quickly told that no it wouldn’t be - it was inside the 24 Hours required notice and because we had booked our stay with points it couldn’t be modified. We said we’d be happy to pay the difference for an upgrade. Still, no. The only way we could get a different room was to cancel the reservation, lose our 30,000 points and rebook and pay. Needless to say, we just went ahead with the room type we booked, but perplexed why a hotel wouldn’t want to make more money on a one night stay when the hotel was clearly half empty on a random Sunday night. So let me just ensure I’ve got this right…. - You would’ve let us upgrade the room if we had booked it regularly, not with points? - You’d rather not take the extra $$ for to upgrade when there was clearly the capacity to do so? Seriously, the hotel was so quiet tumbleweeds could’ve blown thru. There is a reason in the first place we would have enough points to book a stay - we’ve been loyal and regular Hilton customers. In this scenario, it seemed to us it was actually a pitfall to book with points. We will be contacting head office to verify this policy but travellers beware when booking anything with points.
