Katamah Guesthouse

We stayed at katamah twice in the past month. Once for one night and then went back for 8 days. The property is beutiful and very well kept. The cottages we stayed in were very cute with plenty of hot water and air-conditioning. The property has a private pool that we enjoyed lounging in everyday. The gates are secure and require codes to enter so we had no concerns with saftey. The owner is very pleasant and will help where lever she can. Confidently located within walking distance to many restaurants. Attached to the property is a café open for breakfast and lunch we ate their many times and the food was great. We already have another trip booked to return we love katamah.

As usual staying at Katamah was peaceful and filled with the beautiful views of treasure beach, with a warm and hardworking staff making the stay a solid 10/10. The cafe on site is also a super delicious plus. Couple friendly and family friendly

We were initially going to stay in a villa for this second visit to Treasure Beach because we were going for a month and had friends and family rotating in. Boy, are we glad we went back to Katamah instead! The guests rooms are set in a lush garden that owner and master gardener, Simon, has curated with loving care. The rooms and lounging spaces, and there are many, have also been thoughtfully and tastefully designed by owner, Moni, who has created spaces that allow for both quiet contemplation as well as collective socializing all with comfort and ocean and garden views. The outside spaces are incredibly flexible as we alternatively drank coffee and cocktails with friends, read and did remote working, and swam with our nieces and nephews in the new pool! Maya was unbelievably insightful about our guest room needs, suggesting great fits for all of our party. Want classic beach suite? Go Maya. Want to cook a bit more? Go Yana. Want to keep the family together? Go Laila and Saida and Habibi. We even had a bit of a medical concern and Moni and Simon were so helpful, offering the resources they had on hand as well as connecting us to the local on-call doctor. The guest house is centrally located to all of the amenities, and this allowed us to really get a sense of the community. Yoga, health foods, smoothies, ice cold beers, cute boutiques, small grocerers, and excellent traditional Jamaican fare are all a stone’s throw from your stay. If you want to get a sense of community and unspoiled Jamaica, while also having options for tranquil solitude, look no further than Katamah!

Say KaTAHmah (I know that’s not how it’s spelled ;). The owners and staff make this little property extra special. Moni does the design & Simon does all the construction. This means they have been able to get back in action for the most part since Hurricane Beryl in July 2024. Each little cabin is unique and has its little high points and oddities. Some have closets, some don’t. Some have full sized refrigerators (with freezers to slush up your drinks!), some have mini fridges, some have amazing water supply/pressure, Mason’s was somewhat less comparatively but it worked. Thanks to them having a well and big cisterns the water doesn’t get turned off. Maya (Maia?) who does the reservations can answer any questions you can’t figure out from the website. And, yes!, the pool is functional though Simon was still working on the lounge area around it so it wasn’t always open. The veranda is a lovely gently social spot to hang out in the daytime, then when the mosquito hour hits, you can go in the lounge and play pool or read or play games. We were visiting friends in Treasure Beach who pointed us to Katamah and showed us that the little Local eateries, though unassuming, serve delicious food. Not a lot of nightlife there, so you will be glad of the pool table, yoga mats and games. Also Katamah he GREAT WiFi if you need it.

Katamah is the perfect blend of quiet guest houses for sleeping and relaxing and community spaces for hanging out and getting to know the other guests. The rooms are well appointed with comfortable beds and quality linens. Each room has at least a mini fridge, while most have a kitchenette of some sort. All guest houses and rooms have a unique charm of their own with Moroccan decor. The icing on top is that this all exists just steps away from a beautiful beach on Frenchman's Bay. Katamah truly is a treasure!

What a gem of a place. The room we checked in 1st was beautiful but due to a power outage we were moved to a bigger cottage with kitchen and patio. It was really clean and beautiful decorated. It felt more like a boutique hotel. Moni was great, she always made sure that our stay was perfect and that nothing was missing. She was awesome. I never had such a great host before. Moni and her husband Simon gave us some great tips about the surrounding area to check out and local restaurants. We had a great time. Thanks guys, you are doing an awesome job and your property is stunning.
