Great place to stay. Definitely recommend and would stay there again.

The staff at Rambutan are very friendly and helpful. I felt very welcome. The rooftop, poolside restaurant is fantastic with its excellent and varied selection of dishes and is so popular with the public that I found it necessary to book my favourite table on the balcony looking over the town. The wonderful staff members speak many languages. Flying up solo from the Victorian winter I was dismayed to find myself in a cramped room, looking onto a blank wall, so dark I needed the light on. I had probably ticked 'accessible' which meant all the rooms reached by the lift which all face the blank wall around the pool. I expressed my disappointment to reception and was immediately and gratefully moved to a room, up a flight of stairs but looking down onto the pool and restaurant, as pictured. The rooms are small, filled up with enormous beds so that there is no way to unpack a suitcase. I needed a comfy chair. Rambutan is well within walking distance of the passenger ferry, The Strand, Anzac Park, and the centre of the city, surrounded by restaurants, and just 2 blocks from all the shops.

Comfortable, if somewhat small ( if you’re staying for extended period). Excellent staff and great value meals. Would be better if pool was heated, only ever saw the occasional child brave the water. Great for sitting around and relaxing .

So pleased we chose Rambutan as our townsville overnight stay. Our room was prepared by Eloise, thank you, it was spotless. Breakfast ticked all the boxes, and just the best central location, close to Townsville attractions. We will be back, for sure.

From the moment you walk in the staff make you feel right at home, Joe the receptionist is so lovely and so helpful and the food is die for and the cocktails are the best I've had in Townsville and the hotel rooms are cute and cozy and have beach vibes. Now the rooftop pool is great as well and you get to choose your little cabana as well and they even bring your drinks to you in the pool area. I seriously highly recommend Rambutan if I could give it more stars i would.

I booked a room at the Rambutan for two nights as part of an extended business trip. The room was small but clean and suited me as a solo traveller, I would not want to share this space with another person, it is way too small. The layout of the rooms is very unusual, the rooms are all adjacent to the booming restaurant/roof top bar. Until approximately 10pm it felt like the restaurant was in my room, the noise was unbelievable and there was also bright lights just outside my room that lit up my room regardless of the curtains. This location of the room in comparison to the restaurant was information that would’ve been handy to know (I should have read the countless reviews all saying the same thing). Another thing to note, there was mass road closures due to a local marathon, maybe have some information available to guests about these road closures when they check in.

We arrived at 8pm along with a number of other guests. The restaurant was closed even though the receptionist said it should be open. That they would know they had many guests arriving at around that time pretty much sums up this hotel and their attitude to their guests. We also found it not the cleanest place to stay

So much to like about this place! Fantastic location in amongst shops, restaurants, cafes and bars; short walk to esplanade and ferry to Magnetic Island, very central. The Rambutan consists of 3 levels: Ground Floor is Reception and a large cafe/restaurant with a pool table and indoor / outdoor seating. L2 is the hotel carpark, accessed from the rear of the building. L3 is an open-air rooftop with a small pool and cabanas in the centre, accommodation surrounding the pool on three sides, and a covered open-air restaurant and bar overlooking the street front. Everything looks great, staff are friendly and efficient. We had a Queen Room for 3 nights. It was nicely decorated and clean, but felt slightly claustrophobic due to small high windows and zero view. Bed was comfortable, shower was good, excellent hairdryer. Overall, good value for what we paid. We loved the restaurant, great vibe, excellent menus including specialty nights (Tacos, Filipino dishes) and wood-fired pizzas. Good meal/drinks deals too, we ate here every night. It’s very popular, recommended booking, particularly if you want a balcony table. Yes, it is a little noisy with the pool, restaurant and music, but it didn’t bother us, it usually stops by 10pm (10.30pm Friday). Unfortunately there were a few things we found annoying, which put us off staying here again. The curtains on the windows do very little to block out the LED light that is outside the door and on all night, hence the room is never dark. The other issue we had is that the bathroom is not fully private - there is no bathroom door. You step out of the shower and there is no privacy. If you use the shower, toilet or basin, the bathroom light lights up the whole bedroom - far from ideal if your partner is sleeping. The shower fan also turns on every time you turn on the bathroom light and it was noisy. And finally, the door stopper is in the middle of the floor, a tripping hazard. A word of warning about the L2 carpark - the entrance is steep and will probably scrape the underside of your car as you enter or exit if you’re driving a ‘low’ vehicle.

Excellent and friendly staff. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Great for my visit. The hotel was centrally located, near the Museum. The food downstairs was also good. A very comfortable stay. I would definitely stay there again on my next visit!
